I thought tonight's was generally a great show all round but I thought Bruce was brilliant tonight.

There's normally so much moaning about him but he really was genuinely funny on the scripted stuff and the impromptu (looking for the string holding up Bruno's leg for instance )

I think they may have got a new writer for him and long may it continue.

I love Brucie, he makes the show complete for me. His humour is so goodnatured, he's dying to say more in defence of the dancers to the judges but obviously can't so his little asides hit the spot sometimes. Doddery he is not!

I laughed at him multiple times tonight, and not with embarrassment it was ace.

I've been quite off Bruce so far this series but i agree that he was much better tonight.
More relaxed and less "that was a joke, laugh now".

Bruce has been such a great all-rounder for so many years that initially I thought it was time for him to retire gracefully .

Tonight,.. he was funny and very endearing. He is a gentlemen, and the dancers know that whatever is said Bruce will always have a kind word.

Maybe next year a new face, but this year belongs to Bruce.

Not brilliant at all...but far less cringeworthy than usual.

I have knocked him in the past but fair dues, i agree, he was good entertainment tonight.

I am definitely NOT a Bruce fan but he made me laugh a few times tonight. Credit where it's due.

The X Factor and mafia stuff was hilarious

We all said the same in our house tonight.
He was back on form, very funny in places and made us laugh. But then again, he makes the show and should be left alone. He'll go when the time is right.

to be honest I thought some of his "jokes" tonight were a bit off...I think his comments before they dance can be almost as unsensitive as brand/ross

Sorry guys, but I didn't think he was funny. At one point my partner commented on how cringey it was and I did say "give him a break, he doesn't write it" and the reposte was "and the way he's peering at the autocue, he can barely read it".

He was great at what he did, no question. I admire him for his abilities in times past. But he's an elderly and much venerated man. Perhaps time to go out with dignity?

I thought Bruce was on form tonight. Doddery he was not. Inevitable at his age that he will have some better times than others, tonight was an exceptionally good one. I noticed it right from the start.

Timing was better tonight.

I was just waiting for him to make a joke against Wossy and it began to look as if he was going that way. So - good comic timing there. I'm glad he didn't stick the knife in because, doddery or not, he's a better presenter than Wossy will ever be. And he doesn't need to be vindictive. Unlike some I could name...

He was just brilliant tonight, undecided about the 'fat' comment, but I bet you he cleared it with John before the show aired. Don't forget John has lost 2 stone and we all know how ego boosting that can feel (those of us who are fat, old and ugly that is).

Agreed. Back on form tonight - the joke about Jodie and the flowers had me laughing for quite a while. I wish Cherie Lunghi wouldn't be so sour faced at 'the joke' each week even if it isn't funny - I find she comes across as miserable and disinterested, but anyway...

Bruce would be perfect again if he'd just stop interupting the judges and Tess when she is trying to speak.
