Hmm, apart from calling Matthew Ian? Maybe the OP in a separate thread has a point in suggesting Bruce is homophobic, as in, 'These gay blond dancers all look the same to me.'

I'm sorry, I'm a lecturer at University, I'm 34 and I keep confusing some of my student's names (whether they are gay or not). He also called Hayley Kristina. Now are those two gay as well, or are we just trying to 'out' the homophobic by any means necessary.

to be honest I thought some of his "jokes" tonight were a bit off...I think his comments before they dance can be almost as unsensitive as brand/ross

we were both thinking "Bruciegate" when he cracked his fattist comment about John
I thought that was Bruce having a dig at Jonathon Ross, especially when he said he knew the comment was cruel but he said it because he thought it was funny. I expect he'd been told not to make any explicit comments about the recent saga.

Seems it was just a blip...the cringe made a comeback in part 2.

I don't know how late at night they film some of the results show but he obviously and understandably gets tired. I thought the Arlene joke was very fun.

Didn't understand what he was getting at with Craig and Bruno - I know that they're both gay but even so, I don't get the joke.

I love Brucie and really couldn't imagine anyone else presenting Strictly. I don't care what other people say about him, he always makes me smile and I think SCD would go cold if he left.

Sorry guys, but I didn't think he was funny. At one point my partner commented on how cringey it was and I did say "give him a break, he doesn't write it" and the reposte was "and the way he's peering at the autocue, he can barely read it".

He was great at what he did, no question. I admire him for his abilities in times past. But he's an elderly and much venerated man. Perhaps time to go out with dignity?
If only more people would say the same about John Sergeant!

I wouldn't go so far as to say I love him, but I'm very happy with him as presenter. There is something about the familiarity of continuity that makes his face a welcome image on my screens every weekend.

I would be sorry to see him go and I hope he does the show for at least another season after this - in defiance of the age fascists.

Would you have been so quick to criticise if he'd called Kristina Ola and then said "These beautiful blondes all have the same effect on me!"????

I doubt it! What's wrong with calling Ian and Matt gay blonde dancers? They are!

Are they? Matt was married (I can see the inevitable responses here).

I thought Bruce was on form tonight. Doddery he was not. Inevitable at his age that he will have some better times than others, tonight was an exceptionally good one. I noticed it right from the start.
I agree. I'm sick of the Brucie knockers
