Yeah, he messed up on his sob story there. You play for sympathy BEFORE the vote, not after you get kicked out!

Didn't come across that way. I think it's good that he's got perspective.

Uh-oh... he's crying again though.

Lol, yea, his story went a bit wrong there, and hope the little girl wasn't watching, don't think she would be too happy to have heard him say that her life was terrible compared to him, or words to that effect.

He's right though, he is fit and healthy he doesn't need to worry about X Factor. You have to think of others less fortunate. Good on him for showing a bit of perspective.

I'm still gutted for him, he's a lovely lad and seems to come from a lovely family. His dad is a legend...haha

He should have said that rather than dedicating the song to his mum.

Oh dear, I'm being cynical. I'll stop it. I'm just really glad he's gone.

Hello

He was actually undermining the importance of the entire contest.

Whether by accident, or intent- I don't know.

For me that is why Austin should still be in the competition, he thinks of others & not wrapped up in his own self centred world like Rachel.
Austin's parents are extremely lucky to have a son like Austin, with his attitude he will succeed in the future.

Funny, I thought it was a talent contest, not a personality contest...

It's about having the X Factor which is the whole package! It is NOT just about singing! I thought people would realise this after 5 bloomin' years!

Poor sap.

I thought it was very Partridge-esque/Brent-like.

It was more the 'I'll be alive tomorrow and they'll probably be dead' type wording ...Will looked like he was going to poo his pants just to help a brutha out and deflect some of the cringe from shorty.

Ouch.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. 'I don't have cancer and I'm alive and she's gonna die', or words to that effect It was just wrong.

Some people will never change...

It seems whatever Austin would say, some of you always be nasty for him.

It's just pathetic really.

I got the impression he was saying that being voted off a talent show isnt the end of the world and he has a much better life than the little girl. Good on him for having perspective and still smiling

Well isn't it? What is worse? Being voted out of a talent show or having a terminal illness?

Good on Austin. I wish other eliminated (and not eliminated) contestants had the same perspective and grace as he displayed both on the results show and Xtra Factor. Particularly as he was one of the best contestants and far from deserved to go.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. 'I don't have cancer and I'm alive and she's gonna die', or words to that effect It was just wrong.
What is wrong with it? It's the truth. FCOL, where have we got to with this idiotic political correctness that people can't speak a statement of fact without being criticised? Why is it wrong to show sympathy? I've known several people who have died from cancer and other terminal illnesses. I would be mortified if healthy people were unable to put their situations into perspective and none of the people who I know who have died or are living with a life threatening condition have resented or been insulted by anyone showing sympathy.

Some people will never change...

To use a well-intentioned comment about a person with a terminal illness to berate someone says more about the people making the criticisms than the person they are criticising.

Let's face it, for some people, nothing Austin ever did or ever will do will be right.

Let's accept he is Marmite and leave it at that.

I thought he came across well on Xtra Factor. So he had a little blub when the others gave their tributes. So would ALL of them..it's really no big deal. It's actually normal human behaviour.

His comment actually made sense. Being knocked out of a talent show is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
