Not really, they're mates, and Cheryl just thinks they can co-exist in the charts.

She's just speaking the truth

Saturdays have only been around a year, so they have got a lot more to give

The problem with her always saying stuff like this is that her fans listen and stop buying the bands she says she isn't keen on. The Saturdays, or at least what I know of them, have had to work their way in slowly. Girls Aloud had everything handed to them off the back of a reality music show. Would Girls Aloud have had the success they have had if they hadn't of entered the industry that way? doubtfull.

Love No Good Advice by the way..

I don't recall her saying it like that AT ALL. She was just talking about how they're not competition just for Girls Aloud just because they're a five-piece girl group. Her point seemed to be that there's room for all girl groups in the chart. But don't let the truth get in the way or anything...

How can you all say she is right? The Saturdays are so much better than Girls Aloud and if they play their cards right will easily become the top girl group very quickly. The music biz is buzzing with The Saturdays getting rave reviews.

She will be eating her words when The Saturdays have released more top 10 singles and top 10 albums

I do not mind Girls Aloud, but the Saturdays are the big thing at the moment. They are fresh and new. Their music is a bit more catchy than Girls Alouds' at the moment

Girls Aloud have followed the pack and gone retro 60s sound, The Saturdays have played their trump card with their first album - pure pop songs with a very modern twist.

Mmm, The Saturdays' music is certainly a lot more commercial in terms of melody, hooks and accessible lyrics. But that's what sets them apart from Girls Aloud who are getting more adventurous and random and they mature as a group -- farmyard sound effects, anyone? The Saturdays are young, fresh and new (to nick a Kelis lyric) so appeal to that demographic whereas Girls Aloud are the choice of people in their late 20s, early 30s now.

She does have a habit of blurting out something she may later regret.

Like "I would dump a man who ever cheated on me".

I fear Girls Aloud only have a short time left anyway as she seems to be the one who is now more famous than the others - and that will end in a bitch scrap.

how are they? how can you say that? The saturdays didnt scored a number 1 with there first single, while GA did! infact, the saturdays went to NO 8!

BTW, theres only one good singer, and thats Vanessa. The blonde one cant sing to save her life.

They did not have the publicity Girls Aloud did. Girls Aloud had the benefit of being on Popstars The Rivals every week, which helped them

Girls Aloud had a bit of a helping hand to be fair.

Admittedly The Saturdays had a better debut album than GA did, and they will grow into a big band, so it's a bit unfair to compare them, when they're at different stages in their career.

But shouldn't they also appeal to younger demographics as well as the over 20's too?

Dangerous game if they don't as the teen demographic are the main music buyers. What your saying is that Girls Aloud are getting older but losing their fanbase. I don't think that's true.

Did you read my post before the one you replied to? Girls Aloud only had that first number 1 because of were they came from and how. And the Irish one, is the only good singer in Girls Aloud too.

Really? This is her singing acoustic while playing a guitar.

If you're directly comparing it's not as if Girls Aloud can all sing... Cheryl on X Factor *puts hands over ears*.

All reality show winners get a number one with the first single released after many weeks' of prime time TV promotion.

Can I just say that in the defense of Girls Aloud, The Promise is the only track on their new album that has any 60s vibe, the rest is pop-rock/dance kind of music

No, that's not what I was saying. Girls Aloud appeal to older music buyers as well as the younger ones. The Saturdays only appeal to the younger buyers, IMO.

Any chance you write for the Sun (or any other paper that completely misquotes people to make a story out of nothing)?

It's funny you say that because this was all in a segment where they were saying the nicest things about the likes of Britney, Rihanna, Mariah Carey and I thought to myself "that'll never be reported anywhere, because there's no story in them saying nice things." Log on and lo and behold, it's the one could-be negative thing they said -- and it has to be Cheryl -- and there's a thread. *facepalm*

I recommend The Loving Kind, Rolling Back The Rivers In Time, Miss You Bow Wow

but make your own mind up, of course!
