I've just watched their dance on Youtube. It was entertaining I thought. I agree with Paace about the posture. Arlene also said something similar on ITT.

I can think of far more irritating contestants than John.

Yes, it's the public again.”

You've hit the nail right on its head!!

The idea behind Strictly may be as a dance contest but, first and foremost, it is an entertainment programme.

Personally, I don't think much of his efforts but it seems obvious that John is managing to entertain the public a lot more than many of the other celebs, otherwise he would have gone weeks ago.

Good luck to him.

No, he brings joy to millions with his charming performances and lively character behind the scenes. That's why we are voting for the guy in our droves.

His time will be up soon. I can't see him outlasting the better dancers (and by that I mean real contenders). Let's just enjoy him while we can.

Entertainment like John doesn't come along very often. I intend to savour every moment. He's been the highlight of Strictly series 6 so far.”

I agree with you completely. When I first heard he was part of this series, my initial feeling was that he would be completely inept. Well of course he has been surprisingly good, inspite of his age/build/level of fitness, and as his fans have always said he has brought a freshness to the programme.
His detractors have always tried to belittle his efforts, and Bruce hasn't helped by always making disparaging remarks about him.
With Kristina's fantastic support John has exceeded expectations and whilst I would agree his time should be up soon, I hope he lasts for a least another two or three weeks.
For any ageing gents out there wanting to take up dancing
John has been an inspiration.

I'm finding all the John-love quite nauseating now, yes. It's turning SCD into a farce. I can't see what's so entertaining about him anyway. I found Andrew much more entertaining - and now he's gone and Sergeant walks free again. Totally undeserved, although I'm happy to see Kristina stay because I think she's great.

This John thing was funny at first, but now it's just sentimental clap-trap.

Entertaining perhaps, but it would have been more in keeping with "You've been framed".

At last a voice in the wilderness, speaking common sense.

I blame the BBC for hiring for the show they must have known that he could not do all if any of the dances. Its typical of the Latte drinking PC BBC.

What on earth has being PC got to do with John Sergeant's popularity?

jackpup I was thinking the same myself today. he will stay until the poor dancers have all gone. he does add some entertainment and Kristina is lovely and so nice to John.

I am losing it with this show because I am embarassed that John he being kept in. It is not funny watching him, it is painful. I don;t care how hot his partner is this is a bad joke. If he is worth keeping get him in the bottom 2 because if there was any justice he should have gone weeks ago

I am wondering if it is the younger viewers who think John should go? Us Wrinklies think he is lovely.

I'd rather see Christine, Rachel or Tom get voted off before John. John won't be dancing in December and to be honest I wouldn't want him to be there at that stage. I reckon it will be an exit towards the end of Nov.

Nail on head....you found Andrew entertaining, I did not. He is bland, inept and takes himself far too seriously...glad he's gone.

I find John entertaining, but clearly many do not. Just choice, innit?

To be fair, a lot of the entertainment factor is because of Kristina being so clever with John, so charming, and so stunning and good to watch. John hasn't got the X Factor, but together they have the Beauty and the Beast factor.

Its not about his poularity its about BBC allowing in people that do not the fitness to do the dances to the basic standard required.

So if you're over 40 you're fit for nothing but the scrapheap?

I think it's admirable that we have the likes of John giving the youngsters a run for their money. What he lacks in agility, he makes up for in performance.

We live in an ageing society and if the likes of John inspire and bring joy to older folk, then why not invite them on the show?

I like John and to be fair there has always been a "John" in every series.

Chris Parker Runner up out of 8 couples. (They didn't even vote some one out in week 1!)
Julian Clary Third out of 10
Dennis Taylor Eighth out of 12
Peter Schmeichel Seventh out of 12 . (Jimmy Tarbuck withdrew)
Kenny Logan Fifth out of 14. (Kelly Brook withdrew.)

This series is even longer so someone like John will go even further. Which can be infuriating if that celeb grates, but it is part of the show. The only one I didn't like was Dennis (didn't watch series 1), and it can be gutting if your favourite is knocked out because of the sympathy vote.

You need to get a life and stop whinging about things you don't agree with. John has lots of support, because he and the lovely Kristina entertain the viewers. He will go when it's time, and no amount of adverse posting will change that.

I am over 40 and its not about being on the scrapheap I bet you Bruce who is well over 100 is fitter that Jonn. Its purely commonn sense and some people here just vote for "poor old John". Every year people get kept in for the wrong reason i.e. Fiona from GMTV. To many Guardian reading Latte drinking PC brigade voters for my liking.

I really don't see everyone's problem. With the exception of Don, nobody that has lost their place ahead of John have been remotely good dancers (and Don wasn't brilliant either although he has the most cause for complaint).

I have no problem with John staying in ahead of anybody who has gone so far and, to be honest, I wouldn't be that bothered if he stayed ahead of Heather either. If he stays any longer than that I can understand people complaining but I don't think that's very likely. John is this year's Kate. She eventually ran out of goodwill and John will too. The rules is the rules and there will always be people whuo stay in ahead of those that viewers think are better.

Don was much sweeter, and I've seen no evidence of John's charm or wit.
