I got one of these, a few weeks back. They're quite good, at least for HD and/or upscaled viewing. The TV's own upscaling is not too great however, but depending upon how far away you sit, it may not bother you. The built-in Freeview is fairly decent too. Personally, I find the SD quality to be good enough for the distance that I sit from the set, which actually isn't that far away. Overall, I'm generally quite happy with this TV.

A warning however, a lot of people, including myself, have noticed a brightness strobing issue on this set and from what I've read, also seems to be present on most current generation Pansonic sets. The issue effects certain scenes/images, whereby a bright colour eg. light grey or white, or light blue etc in the background, but a dark black/grey image in the foreground - the lighter background will flicker/strobe. Not always visible, some movies/TV shows etc are affected more than others. It will either annoy you, or may not even be visible at all. If you're an absolute picture quality purist, then probably best to avoid this, otherwise ignore the potential issue and go ahead and get one!

Hi, have had my 42pz80 about 4weeks now, im really pleased with the tv, both SD & HD picture are superb and can't really find any faults other than the menus are a bit basic and theres not much in the way of tweeking the settings.

Also when i set-up the tv it seemed to look huge compared to my old Sony32"crt, but you soon get used to the size and now wishing i had opted for the 46" version

I bought a cd recorder from them years ago and they were very helpful.

Seem like a very customer friendly store.

If you have a John Lewis nearby, they will match the Richer Sounds price and throw in a free five-year guarantee. That's hopefully what I am going to do, once I've saved up my money!

woo hoo, bought mine from Waitrose (home store) last night - they said they couldn't price match richer sounds as they only do local matches and the nearest richer to me is 48 miles away! - however they said John Lewis match nationally - we both agreed this was a pants decision and asked the manager.
i produced a print out of their webpage which showed RS as doing it instore only and they agreed to match RS's price BUT the one with 5yrs only which i didn't really want but thought s0d it it's only another £60 and it is Waitrose after all.
Glad they didn't check the stock levels of RS - as they "were too lazy" as RS were out till next week!!!!
Will collect on Monday (don't want delivered) and will dribble over it shortly afterwards.

My Sony BDPS350 can finally live.
