It's really beyond a joke now that each week Diana gets a song which isn't in the weeks genre, as they know her versatility goes all the way from A to B, but they think her junkie-on-acid one-tone warbling is "edgy" (well maybe in 1995. it was).

"Smile" wasn't "big band" and "Heart Of Glass" isn't "disco". God knows how they'll twist the format to fit her pneumatic charisma-free droning the remainder of the series...

She may well win given the low intelligence of most viewers but she'll clearly make Brookstein and McManus seem megastars in comparison. Makes me laugh (a lot)

Lol she did Call Me for disco. And some of the others didn't have disco songs either like Austin.

I love her.

While you're insulting my intelligence, maybe you should start considering why you think you're the arbiter of taste and talent.

Sigh.

Simon was right with the Marmite comment it seems.

If Diana wins, good luck to her - I'm not her biggest fan but I quite like her. It annoys me that she does seem to get songs that aren't in the week's genre, but if that's what she's best at singing I can see a reason behind it. She did try something new last night and it paid off.
And as for the 'low intelligence of most viewers' comment, I find that offensive - you obviously watch the X Factor, are you implying that you yourself are stupid? I watch the X Factor, I know I'm not stupid - in fact, most people I know who watch it are not unintelligent. Stop being so biased and hypocritical and be a bit more open-minded, it won't kill you

I like Diana and wouldn't mind her winning but I might be the only one who thinks she's not gonna win!

Its not really obvious at all.

Simon has picked songs for Austin that were used for David Cook winning AI, sadly Austin had the likability factor equal to Kerry Katona and Simons grand plan has fallen apart. I would say 100% that next week Simon would have had Austin singing "Always be my baby" He was definetely the production teams chosen one, he got much more attention than Diana did in the earlier stages, he got extra time on Xtra factor and was interviewed by Dermot much more than the others.

Alexandra is also much more like the chosen one than Diana, she also received lots of attention in earlier rounds.

Dianas audition was shown with an interview and then we got fleeting glimpses of her in the Bootcamp, enough to show how amazing she was despite hardly any airtime.

The best in the show and gaining the most attetion she certainly is, but chosen one. Clearly not. Perhaps its only those of us with high intelligence who are aware of this.

What makes me laugh a lot is what you're apparent definition of intelligence must be. That was such an ignorant and self-centered comment to make.
Also, if you took the time to consider your thoughts and opinions before you wrote them you would realise that Diana didn't perform 'Heart of Glass', she performed 'Call Me'.
On top of that, Austin didn't strictly perform a disco song either but Diana seems to be the easy target for this sort of thing for people who just don't have a nice thing to say about her at all - which, in my opinion, is really the thing that is beyond the joke now.

Rant over.

I love Diana, she's a breath of fresh air in this competition.

That said, I definitely think she is the chosen one this year. Now Simon is even telling Laura she needs to be more quirky and update her image ie. "Why can't you be more like Diana?"

I was going to say almost the same thing.

If you don't like Diana, fair enough, but to insult the intelligence of her fans is going a bit far, don't you think?

Also- as many have said, she didn't sing "Heart of Glass"... you're insulting our intelligence and you can't even get the name right? *sigh*

See, I think Austin was supposed to be the chosen one - hence Simon giving him a lot of songs that went down well on AI and really trying to present him as the perfect pop boy. However, it backfired spectacularly.
I think even Alex may have been a chosen one too, the support she received after failing in 2005 and now being the comeback kid.
This just hasn't worked as well on the live shows, although I do hope she does well off of the show, she's lovely.

Diana is my favourite though and I think Simon & co are picking up on the buzz surrounding her.

No, I think it's Diana definitely, and Will Young, giving her a mention probably boosted that cause just a little bit more, as if it needed it!

Having said that, it was obvious that Gareth Gates was the chosen one in the first series of Pop Idol and he was pipped at the post, so there's still hope folks!

Ooh, I'd forgotten about Brookstein and McManus...two of the most undeserving winners, that ever were. I remember thinking how Rowetta was totally robbed!

Low intelligence?

I like Diana...

I have a masters degree, run a successful business; within a skilled professional career (CG artist, animator and VFX artist) and earn a very good wage.

So obviously not unintelligent. I lack common sense at times but I am intelligent and articulate. Don't get me wrong I'm no genius but I'm certainly not stupid, thick or of a low intelligence.

There are other posters on here who like Diana who I am well aware are not unintelligent either who have praised Diana.

A sweeping generalisation much?

Anyway... chosen one? I don't know you could argue that case for a few contestants.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Kerry Katona win her series of I'm a Celeb Surely her fanbase can't be that weak?

She sang Call Me which we have discovered is a Disco classic written by one of the major disco pioneers Giorgio Moroder.

I'd say Diana has had the best placing out of the girls in her group so far, but you can't really tell from that- i mean somebody had have the best placing!

I'm not sure there is a 'chosen one' as such. Its dangerous to peak too early, I think they'd be giving her more of an obvious journey if she was their chosen one.

Laura + Austin were the chosen ones

Diana surprised everyone and now I think she has taken over Austins place, making her and laura the frontrunners at this point!

This week, again I thought she was cute in a strange way, unbrushed hair... and it was good to see her try a fast song But her yelping annoys me. Sorry
The yelping at the end of each line sounds like a cat with it's tail in a mincer, and the verses sound slurred, or as if she had spent the last 17 hours trying to swallow a Toffee Crisp, only to discover she didnt actually have 1 in her mouth.
"Call Meee-OOWWW!"
