Blu Ray Freeze Framing

I have the Sony BD500 Blu Ray which I bought last May. It is very good, but also a bit annoying to use.

Occasionaly, the discs freeze frames and you cannot unlock it.

Today I was playing a music CD on it and after 45 seconds it just froze altogether for about 2 minutes until it unlocked itself.

Now it doesnt happen very often, but I was wondering if other users have had the same problem with Sony machines.

Please share your views with me, very much appreciated.

This should not happen with any Blu ray player, I have put over 90 BD discs through my Samsung in the 10 months I have had it without a single hitch. Not familiar with this model as to if it can be updated via Ethernet like mine or if you need to download & burn to CD to apply it.

There are two possible resons for this; the first one is that the Firmware is not up to date, check the Sony website to see if a later Firmware is available & update if required. If this does not solve the problem the player needs to be returned to Sony for repair.

I have the same player and it used to lock up and freeze half way thru some movies, a firmware update solved the problem. easily burned to a cdr, pop it in the player wait till its finished and now your player is updated. simple

heres a link to sony firmware update for the bdp s500 follow the burning instructon carefully and make sure you check its updated by resetting then checking the firmware version on the player. full info on link.

I had a Sony 300 player and apart from freezing on some dvd's , the upscaling was poor and the loading / unloading times were a joke.

The PS3 does it all and more much better
