Years ago at the height of his fame Timmy Mallet had been a special guest at a fete I went to with my young children.
But he was quite sharp tongued to anyone who went up to him and asked him for his autograph.
But to be fair to him he was a bit swamped with eager kids going up to him and I suppose all celebs, like the rest of us, are entitled to having a bad day.
Wasn't there a Noel Edmonds 'Gotcha' that didn't actually show him in a good light?

Just remembered another Marti Pellow story. A friend of mine who lives in Belgium now went to see him concert he did there back in the 80s or maybe early 90s. Anyway, thinking the audience couldn't speak English she said he was very insulting to them. After that day, she was no longer a fan.
If that was in Flanders, he was pig ignorant as most people speak good English there.

Didnt think MPs were meant to travel first class any more - interesting !
They do and its mostly Scottish Labour and the shadow front bench, a certain shadow cabinet member travelled 1st with seven hangers on.

Oh....ones I forgot the other day...

Simon King (Spingwatch, Big Cat Diary) So so lovely! Really friendly and chatty, with an obvious passion for his job and wildlife in general. This was at the Outdoor Show at the NEC a few years back. I also made Kate Humble laugh a lot when I mentioned (when she was looking at some kayaks...so was my husband) to my husband that I would need 2 strapped together to fit my fat arse! She actually laughed so much she choked on her drink...I didnt realise it was her till hubby pointed it out!

Brett Anderson from Suede - a dream. Really friendly. Stood outside the Brixton Academy signed autographs for ages....this was before a gig in 1993. Said that he hoped we all enjoyed the show...and he asked where I had got my "cool" jacket from....erm..me dad?

Brian Harvey - Ex East 17 - Really shy! Was nice enough....offered me a ciggie...had to say I didnt smoke...but kept the packet for a laugh!

I used to follow pop groups around years ago....1992 to 1993 mainly....met most of the now defunct "boy bands"..like Bad Boys Inc and Worlds Apart. I think I met Worlds Apart so many times (27 plus!) that they knew me and asked friends where I was if I wasnt at a gig or a signing etc....received a lovely long letter from Dan Bowyer when he left the band (probably because we are both big Red Dwarf fans) and little messages from Steve from time to time but by 1995 they were big in France and I was more into club dance music. My dutch friends still loved them but I just couldnt be bothered anymore... Must say that I was shocked to see how popular the band got on the continent.....read somewhere that at one record signing there where more people there than there had been for Michael Jackson!!!!! WTF????? Strange!

My mum met Phil Jupitus in Lakeside in Essex...said that he looked a right idiot because he had real dark glasses on indoors and was desperate NOT to be recognised....and when folks asked "Are you PJ?" he ignored them.....plonker. Shes also met Mike from Bucks Fizz and served him at the till in Boots. She said he was really nice...shes also met Brian Conley, who she was totally in love with. She said he was just so lovely....stood and chatted to my mum and dad for ages, and my mum had a photo taken of her sitting on Brians lap. This was back in about 1987...but she did say that she would love to meet him again...only to see if he is still as affable as he was then

Oh...she also met Tommy Steele when she was a teenager and said he was a right tool...really arrogant and shouted at people for standing near his car (when there was NO WHERE else to stand) Plus she said he had teeth that open beer bottles.

My dad was given a lift home by the Everly Brothers....this was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back...in the late 1950's and this was when my dad still lived in London. He said that they were polite, charming and really generous....and so kind....he was just embarrassed that my nan didnt recognise them!

Have to speak to my family again to see what else they can say...tee hee!
I met Brian about 3 years ago, he is a really nice guy, he took time to speak to me and my mum had my photo (actually right in front of me now) he is a really good guy

Joe Pasquale is another who I have nothing bad to say about, he was really nice to me, signed the autograph and chatted, He had to get back as it was quite late and he lived in Kent, but he still took the time to chat to about 70 fans

Shane Richie was a nice guy, he did seem a bit rushed and nervous around everyone though, I am a fan and have been for as long as I can remember (2002 ish when I was just 6) and he was really nice to me

Graham Cole was another who was really nice, he was at a book signing and I felt sorry for him as not many people were there and when I got there I was the only person there he was a great guy and spoke to us for a good few minutes had a few photos

Larry Lamb is one of my favourites, I met him at a book signing and had my photo with him but my camera didn't go off, so got one of his guys to take the picture XD was a lovely guy, everyone that I know that's met him say he is such a lovely guy and is very appreciative of his fame.

Not meeting but I've been tweeted by Ant and Dec, I said how much im a superfan of theirs, Dec replied with a lovely message saying thanks and wished me a lovely day.

Keith Chegwin follows and I DM him some times he is a great guy

Tracy Ann oberman is lovely too

Bob Monkhouse was a legend, met him at a lottery show, jokes were near the knuckle and the stories blue but he held the audience in the palm of his hand, nice guy.

Bruce Forsyth in two words - obnoxious knut.

Thats quite a list, Princess Margaret was probably stoned.
I met Price Michael while I was driving and he was on foot waiting for the green man at the traffic lights. The lights changed I braked and went 3-4 inches over the line.
My window was open and so he took the opportunity to give me the sort of look you give to a serf and call me an oaf and then walk on.
Piece of sh** I was going to call him but as he was from better breeding stock I settled for lump of excrement loud as I could through the other open window .... I know he heard it but didn't turn around.
My job involved a bit of meeting and greeting.

Yes, my thoughts on P. Margaret too but didn't want to say so.

Also met Margaret Thatcher when we organised her book signing. Let's just say a fair amount of whisky was involved, but she was very normal

Also met Fergie and Princess Diana. Fergie was much better looking close up than her pictures. Diana was not pretty but absolutely luminous and enveloped by a cloud of charisma. Met Dodi Fayed too and he was good looking, charming but pretty thick, coked up and absolutely under the command of his father. I have no difficulty at all in believing that on the night in question in Paris he was ringing him for instructions.

Sir Roger Moore - top friendly bloke with very funny anecdotes.

Cilla Black - rude and vile, had the displeasure of the scouse scumbag in 1st class recently and she repeatedly moaned, death cannot come quick enough where she is concerned.

Ed Milliband was a recent customer as well, very arrogant and sleazy, kept fiddling with his gonads.
Have not met Cilla Black but was in a London restaurant when she was there and she was completely obnoxious.

A family member grew up on Scotland Rd and remembers "ms White" very well. She was a scruffy, snotty-nosed kid who was only clean after a trip to the local swimming baths.

I have met many celebs in my line of work in the past and a few stand out.

Emlyn Hughes - We talked football for a few hours. He seemed to hate Alan Shearer for some reason. Seemed ok. Smoked lots.

Simon Weston - Top guy. Told me that before he was burned nobody listened to him but now he opens his mouth and everybody does! Had time for everybody.

Sonique - My Sister wanted a picture while she was on the decks, my sister had to retake the photo many times as it wouldn't come out right yet Sonique pulled the same pose around 6 times as she worked! She even came down for a dance with our crowd on the floor!

KISS - Lunatics. Requested a large mirror and biscuits. Mirror was left smashed the next day with white power on segments of the mirror.

The Supremes - Very quiet all of them! Polite but quiet.

John Leslie - Idiot who was full of himself. Chased girls all night long and acted a drunk prat. Leery.

Dwight York - Very nice man. Really cheerful to everybody.

Jeremy Clarkson - Rude. Full of himself.

I went to the opening of the Crazy Horse show with Kelly Brook in last night.

Louie Spencer was there, and soooo unlike his tv persona! Before the show I was in the VIP area and while everyone else was mingling he just sat in the corner with a right face on. No prancing about then!

The only other memorable one was Katie Price's make-up artist/bff, who walked into the audience late (bearing in mind he'd been in the VIP area for an hour before and we all got escorted to our seats 10 minutes before the show started), and stood around trying to draw attention to himself.

Denise Welsh, Jamelia, Gizzi Erskine (?) were lovely.

JK Rowling - Heard a story first hand from someone who worked in an Edinburgh hotel that she was vile on the phone, because she wasn't happy with the hotel procedures on something that simply couldn't be changed.

FULL of "don't you realise who I am" attitude.
Yes. Heard from a friend of a friend that she went all diva on a flight across the Atlantic. Hmm...!!

Joe Pasquale, Rav Wilding and Daniella Westbrook all used the same gym as me. Joe was very unassuming and quiet, Rav walked around in ridiculously huge headphones but Daniella was so annoying. She used to chat with her 2 friends all the way through an exercise class, they'd giggle and muck about constantly, talking really loudly and that's really off putting when you're trying to concentrate and work hard.

In fairness to Terry Wogan, he gets paid a nominal amount for doing CIN because it's against the Equity (actors/TV performers' union) rules for people who work in the industry to do TV broadcasts without being paid.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6417329.stm

£800,000 p/a for a weekday radio show. That works out at roughly £3000 per day. I don't know how long the show is, but say 3 hours? So about £1000 per hour gets you Wogan.

So £9000 for CiN (7 hours) would seem to be about his normal rate, or a bit above.

So not "nominal".

It makes you think twice when you see him on his game shows now being all 'matey' with the contestants

I could really imagine him being the type to be different once the cameras stop rolling. Just like Cilla....

I wonder if he then donates what he received back to CIN

Went off Bruce Forsyth when i saw a documentary about him. He came across as a grumpy old git (thats the polite version) not endearing in the slightest so I switch off when hes trying to crack jokes on telly.

I would have thought they would have said that in the articles defending him, it that were the case. Why all the stuff about token/nominal payments if it goes to charity...

I met John Challis aka Boycie from Only Fools and Horses today

I was in town and saw him posing for pictures with the little yellow three wheeled car from the show. He was signing his autobiographies in the local bookshop. I was a bit embarrassed to meet him as I'd literally rolled out of bed this morning, got dressed and gone out to do some food shopping, I looked a state. But he was really nice in person, nothing like Boycie thankfully He had a conversation with everyone who met him and thanked them for coming in, and he talked me into letting my son take a picture of me with him
