I live in Zurich and I met Tina Turner several times as my in-laws were her neighbours from her old address. She never bothered to say good morning or even reply to my occasional hellos. I don't know her personally so I cannot judge her character from these brief bumpings into her but for sure she doesn't strike me as an overly warm person. My parents-in-law said she was very strange: one day she would smile and ask how are you and other days she would ignore them completely. I think she has had several cosmetic procedures done but she is... how to put it... not so very pretty in the flesh with no makeup on. Out of the many times I saw her, only once she had no hat on and I can assure you that she wear wigs. I'm 5'10'' so her height didn't impress me but yes, she is tall and has a big bum, LOL. Her posture bothered me somehow, I don't know.
I often met local TV personalities and even US actors in restaurants but it's quite normal here. When I worked at a department store on the Banhnhofstrasse, I got to talk to Jay Kay, Kyle Minogue (really small and so terribly annoying. At last my boss gave her all for free... long story....), Jean Claude van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger (I was surprised at how bad his German was), Sir Michael Caine, Gerard Dépardieu (ok, he only cared to check if his wines were displayed as he had requested....) and a few more whose names now I cannot recall. It's not uncommon to meet Italian VIPs here (guess they use the Swiss banks and I'm not joking!). My fave was Giorgio Armani. So very kind and he complimented me on my Italian - he laughed loudly when I told him I actually was Italian.
I'll end this by saying that the best looking celeb was Simon Le Bon. Incredibly handsome but so sure of his good looks that it was a major turn off. His vanity must have no confine.
Does the porn star Rocco Siffredi count as a celebrity? Well, he has a boyfriend here, yes a BOYFRIEND, whom he visits often... He always buys plenty of white chocolate and Maraschino truffles...
