I held the door open for Derek Jacobi today. He didn't say thank you. I think he was just distracted though.

Was sitting in a green room, about a metre away, with him & Dr. Hilary Jones when I was waiting to be interviewed on the old TV-AM. Everyone else was so warm and friendly towards me and my dad who had come along for moral support. Those two came across as a pair of ignorant so-and-sos and you could tell that members of the public were just mere plebs and of no interest to them. Not that we would have expected any special treatment but they were sitting closest to us and totally blanked us. Nobody else did- even if it was just a nod or a smile to put us at our ease.

Would be interesting to know how Dr Hilary has behaved on the recent Birmingham QE ob's, based on the post above?

Met Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Star Wars Episode VII) last week.

Nick was very nice and funny, got a picture with him, had a quick conversation that involved a few jokes, super cool dude.

Then I met Greg and he was much, much nicer than I could have anticipated, very pleasant guy, had a full on conversation with him about his work and more general things, got a photo with him and we had a couple of laughs. Obviously not the most famous dude in this thread but he was certainly one of the most down-to-earth celebs I've met, really brightened my day.

Anyone met any of the hunger games or the game of thrones casts? I am particularly interested in fan meetings with Lena headey and natalie dormer.

Met 'em? I've shagged 'em both.

At the same time*

*Like you need me to tell you this isn't true.

Rose Leslie (Ygritte in GoT), one of the nicest and most talkative celebs you could meet, very friendly and sweet

Yeah. I'm definitely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

My mum's known him since the 80s. He's lovely, but extremely shy.

I've heard that Ms Dormer is a bit up her own arse and all the interviews with her that I've read seem to confirm it.

I like her in interviews that I have watched so if she is like that in 'real life' I am happy. She comes across to me that she is very confident in herself and very determined and opinionated which can at times comes across as stuck up.

Aww I am glad. She seems lovely in interviews although I find it weird hearing her talk in her real voice as she is so much posher.

I met Jerome Flynn at the wales comic con a couple of years ago. He was lovely and very down to earth. We had a nice little chat and a photo.

She's the daughter of a Lord - doesn't get much posher than that! Although it's funny given her background that her two most famous roles are as a housemaid in Downton Abbey, and a wild warrior woman in Game of Thrones.

I did meet her and Kit Harington very briefly in a park near where I live in London. I was sunbathing and they asked for directions. Both seemed nice, but like they didn't want to be recognised. I was very distracted by Kit's abs though (he had his T-shirt off - it was a very hot summer's day, and it was when he was on crutches after he'd hurt his leg). The dude was seriously ripped!

A friend of mine met Natalie Dormer at a cocktail party and described her as lovely and not stuck up at all. Although it was a bit of an official event, and she could have been on her best behaviour I guess.

I met Mark Gatiss (from Sherlock and The League of Gentlemen) through a mutual friend in a pub once. Nice guy and very intelligent, though a little bumbling.

Met Jan Leeming (former newsreader) at the BBC once. I sensed she's someone you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of, but she was pleasant enough to me and my other half, who was with me.

Met singers Betty Boo, Phil Oakey (Human League), Martin Fry (ABC) and Beverley Knight through work. Betty Boo was absolutely lovely, one of the nicest people I've met, celebrity or otherwise. Phil Oakey was likeable and down to Earth, Martin Fry a bit distracted and disinterested, but otherwise okay, and Beverley Knight was very friendly, and very patient when I was dealing with some technical problems.

I met Nerys Hughes (Welsh actress from The Liver Birds, The District Nurse Etc.) through work once too. Very nice, down to Earth and jolly.

As a teenager I met the late Claire Rayner (agony aunt) through school. Really nice and warm lady with a good sense of fun.

Only really unpleasant celebrity encounter I've had was waaay back when I was a little kid aged about 6 or 7 when I had the misfortune of meeting Anita Harris (she was in the 'Carry On' films and other stuff back in the day) at a local fete. Total bitch who made me cry, and then had a go at me for crying. I couldn't help but smile when I heard in recent years that she'd gone bankrupt. Couldn't happen to a nicer woman!

When I was a kid in the mid 1990's I attended a friendly match featuring Manchester United and met the following (this was before most of them were 'famous'):

Ryan Giggs - signed one autograph despite everyone waiting to meet him. Incidentally someone hurled abuse at him causing him to turn around and hit me in the face with his bag and elbow and stood on my foot - he didn't apologise

David Beckham - asked to borrow my pen, signed autographs for everyone around me but not mine and walked off with my pen - did wave at me from the bus later tho!

Paul Scholes - pleasant enough got his autograph

Lou Macari - he was sitting just behind us - he chatted away to my Mum for a bit - very nice

I met Bonnie Langford with a friend on the Dancing on Ice tour years ago and she was friendly - signed my autograph.

Saw Alice Cooper and his band in Munich airport getting a flight to Birmingham - they were all lovely and approachable - my Mum was sat with his lighting technician on flight and they chatted for the entire time.

Met Bill Odie when I was at school - from what I remember he was nice

Also met Roger Black when I was really young - got a photo with him, but can't recall meeting him!!!

Kate Winslet- thought she had been coming across as a little full of herself in interviews in recent years but I met her at an event and she could not have been more lovely (hilariously filthy mouth though ) A family friend also lives close by to her and says much the same thing.

Two lists, first the utter *****,

Bono - arrogant p**** who ignored backstage pass holders like myself.

Cilla Black - Gave me dirty looks at Heathrow back in the nineties then moaned about the service in First, made my first time travelling in First an unpleasant one.

Nicola Sturgeon - not a nice person, arrogant and somewhat ignorant.

Donald Dewar - vile sad little man who made me feel uncomfortable in his presence.

Hilary Clinton & Bill - her a cold emotionless mess, him, well he just gave me the Heebie Geebies, so happy I did not wear my blue dress that day.

Charles Haughey - sleazy vile smelly sexist creep, horrid excuse for a man.

Now for the niceties,

Sir Roger Moore- bumped into him in Switzerland and again when he did his tour recently and he remembered our first meeting, very nice guy.

Boris Johnston and Frank Field- both were utter gents, you really felt they were enjoying your company.

Margaret Thatcher - surprisingly a really nice woman, quite easy to speak with.

Michael Portillo - again a very nice guy, just because they are tories does not mean they are unlikable.

Boris Yeltsin - was pissed but a very friendly drunk, tried to dance with me.

Emperor & Empress of Japan, not much I can say, incredibly polite and I found them to be rather shy.

Rupert Murdoch - ruthless businessman but a very charming and pleasant guy.

If we could swap our waste of space work shyster monarchy for the Japanese monarchy I'd become a royalist, got a few more names to share but I'll save them.

I am really surprised to hear about your experience with Anita, because she stands out for me as one of the nicest celebrities that I have ever met.

In the 1990's I was a Receptionist at the International Accountants' Ernst and Young. I used to be in charge of booking rooms for meetings with our show biz clients and the partners of our company. Whenever Anita arrived she would always give me a hug and kiss, all the security guards were mad about her, and she would usually kiss them as well. Whenever she required more refreshments she always went out of her way to show her appreciation, and I still have the Christmas card that she sent me one year, thanking me and my team for all our help.

I only have very happy memories of my many encounters with Anita, I thought that she was delightful, and very beautiful too.

Nicola Sturgeon's hairdresser would disagree with you and knows the public Ms Sturgeon quite well.

In another life, I twice had professional dealings with the Legend that was Donald Dewar and am happy to sing the praises of a wonderful, dedicated, and very sadly missed man.

I cannot agree with your assertions about these two ardent champions of my homeland.

I'm sure as an actress she knows how to turn on the charm when she wants to, and maybe she just hates kids, but rest assured she was vile towards a small child who hadn't done her any harm.

I've seen quite a few posts on here about celebrities being rude or nasty to kids - maybe they think kids don't matter or that they can get away with being rude to them in a way they wouldn't if it was an adult who can stand up to them?

Given that A Lorna Moon goes on to praise BoJo, Thatcher and Portillo, I can see where he/she is coming from.

To be fair I think Boris Johnson comes across very well regardless of political views.

I still find it strange when you say that she made you cry, there must have been a reason for it. I have seen quite a few loud, spoiled, precocious brats that can't bear the fact that they are not the centre of attention.

(I am not saying that you were behaving like that.)
