My cousin has. Apparently he was grumpy. He always seems like a nice bloke though.

I met Freddie Mercury once in the 70's and he was very quietly spoken and very charming. I bumped into him (literally) coming down the stairs in BIBA with a nice blonde lady.

I got his autograph (written in yellow felt tip pen on a scrap of paper) and my mum threw it out!

He made very excessive demands and was just horrible

A lot of other bigger stars she worked with were much nicer.”

I am genuinely surprised at all this. I've followed Aled's career since Walking in The Air !! (I have all his treble albums still neatly kept on Vinyl!!) At the various tours I've been to he has always made time at the stage door for whoever was waiting and spent a lot of time with them. Once, as an example, I went with a group of 10 people to Birmingham and he actually had a room set aside and came and greeted us all afterwards!!

I don't know who he is but in my experience most celebs treat fans totally differently from everyone else. (Even the ones who are genuinely good decent people, they're still "on" around fans.) Being around fans is part of the job, it's a performance, and you know that you need to give a good performance because those people pay your bills.

Of course some celebs don't realise this and treat their fans like sh!t.

Somebody I knew was a friend of Leigh Francis and had nothing but good to say about him.

I met him by chance in a shop about five years ago. He seemed shy and quiet to the point that nobody recognised him until he started talking. But when he did, he was chatting away with us for a while - genuinely funny and friendly.

I can only comment on the one occasion I personally met and chatted to him, and in that time he seemed nice.

My sister met him years ago, when he was huge, well before his fall from grace, he helped her with her pram (or something, it was quite a few years ago, can't quite remember the circumstances), very polite and helpful, she didn't realise who it was until he got back in his, very nice very big, car to drive off.

I worked on quite a few live shows with him when he was still with Cheryl and not publicly "out" (although most people in "the business" knew). He was always fine with everyone. He liked a laugh and a drink and we all knew that he had problems with that. All in all, he was a nice guy.
What happened on that night at his home was terrible and he should never have left the scene. That is what caused all the problems for him. If he had stayed to face the music, things might have worked out different for him.
Please don't all have a go at me for these comments saying that I should think about the dead man. I agree that what happened was awful and I feel so sorry for the family of the guy who died.
Because Barrymore fled the scene, there will always be suspicion hanging over him and for that, he only has himself to blame.

Met him some years ago at a country show. He was sitting on the grass with his mates eating a picnic like the rest of us. He offered my daughter, then just a toddler, one of his crisps and sat playing with her pulling funny faces. He seemed very genuine, very unassuming and looked to be enjoying life. I can't help but feel for him....he made a stupid decision on that awful occasion and it's cost him everything.

Connecting with the recent stories of Chris Evans on Top Gear, has anyone had any experiences with him, good or bad?

Be interesting if he really has changed, or if he's heading into oblivion again.

I had a bet that she would turn up late...she is, with someone in a wheelchair who I assumed was her mum and another blonde girl who maybe was her sister.
They came in, she stuffed her face with bagels and both her and the other girl spent the whole first half talking and on their mobiles . Someone who was the partner of one of the cast had enough and asked her to be quiet.
Her reaction was disgusting, she pulled her had back, sneered and said " ******" load enough for us to hear in the next block of seats.
The guy got a round of applause from the audience at the end.

Talk about disrespectful of the cast and audience. I heard she had also told the staff when she came in she was starving and wanted some food. All they had at the cafe were bagels, she grabbed 6 and took them.

At the end of the show she shifted so fast it was unbelievable. Turns out she hadn't paid for the food and promised she would pay at the end of the show but didn't.

She was so vile.”

Oh come on, really? While I'm sure she's not a very nice person, what kind of theatre only sells bagels and has cast members houting at the audience? How do you know she grabbed six bagels? Why did the audience wait until the end to applaud the man who told her to be quiet?

This story has more holes than the six bagels you speak of!

Is it nice be a doubting Thomas?

A fringe theatre in Southwark called Union Theatre which has a little cafe at the entrance which sells bagels , which have become well known and gets great reviews on Trip Adviser. Have a look

It was a theatre goer who asked her to shut up, the audience politely waited until the show had ended and the cast left the stage to turn to him an applaud him and pass comments and thank.
He was the partner of one of the cast.
The audience were hardly going to ruin such an intimate performance to applaud another member of the audience!

The person who she approached for something to eat told me about it at the bar after the show when I was waiting for one of the cast ( my son)

The bagel wraps were left on her table, as was one half eaten and one full one.

Not all theatres are in cities with huge stages and hundreds of plush seats.

Some are fringe theatres off West End and hidden away in places you would never guess-some are under bridge arches, there is one at the back of a book shop.

They have shows which consist of performers and cast creatives who work on profit share.

This means they audition in the same way as someone auditioning for a West End show but they don't get paid unless the show makes a profit.

The Theatres are small and the chances of making anything from doing such shows are very very slim, even if they sell out every night. The nature of the theatres allow for the cast to mingle and involve the audience like it did at the show we went to.

The cast and creatives do it for the love of their art and out of the hope it leads to further exposure and paid work.

Someone taking £18 work of bagels without paying is another cost to be covered.
Not much money to many people but it's the principle of taking and not paying which is bad.

The poster said the cafe only had bagels, not the theatre. Many theatres have cafes on the premises and often they do sell out by the evening. I was at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith a few weeks ago and witnessed the person in front of me buy the very last sandwich in the cafe! (I was cruelly forced, forced, to eat a slice of cake for dinner!)

Tigragirl - I've been to the Union many times. Shocking behaviour for a venue like that!

hi tszujme it was the first time we have been and love the whole atmosphere of the place. I'm Not 100% sure but I think it's about to close and move over the road to a newer and bigger place. You can sponsor bricks and things to help with the funding.

I'm not sure what's going to happen to the cafe, it would be a shame if is disappears because it gets great reviews.

It sounds dreadful being forced to eat cake, I bet you had the scars for ages afterwards😀

Every time I see Joan Collins interviewed I get the impression she's a terrible snob and only talks to fellow rich and famous people, I imagine if a member of the public approached her for a photo or autograph or something she'd look at them like they were something she'd just stepped in.

Shame then that he was convicted of abusing schoolboys as young as 14 after he was exposed as an 'opportunistic sex offender' in his former career as a teacher.
