I used to work in a post production company and a Channel 5 TV show for a short period during the summer breaks.
Celebrities are human beings and they have off days, yes. They could be in a bad mood and we just make an opinion based on that one day. But there is something to be said for a celebrity who is rude to somebody in a professional context, and to somebody who is offering help. The rudest people I have encountered were Beverley Craven and Magenta Divine. Awful. I wish I could have said something but it would have upset my position, however I was very tempted. Tony Blackburn was a bit unfriendly, but not rude, per se. As was Romola Gurai. She just seemed very uptight, which would be the best way to describe her. Sada from Big Brother wanted sparking water; the normal bottled water was obviously not good enough for her, so we had to get her sparkling water. I don't get that kind of attitude, yet some of them will want something else, even though there are lots of other choices available - just because they can. Jimmy Osmond was a joker, however he is obviously used to being waited on and shoved his very heavy bag my way, expecting me to carry it a short distance to his dressing room. I found a Scouse soap star (who is married to an ex glamour girl) very bitchy, he was gossiping in the green room about a certain talent show judge, accusing her of being a bit of a 'slapper', as he put it, and he claimed she had tried it on with him. I found him unpleasant, especially talking about her in that way. I don't know if I am allowed to name him, so I have not. Vanessa Feltz was a little bit abrupt. Anthea Turner was lovely, such a nice and polite lady. Stephen Baldwin was lovely and joking with the staff. Tara Fitzgerald was also very sweet. I have also met a few people who were nice: Buffy cast (especially Amber benson), Rhona Cameron, Joss Whedon, John Hurt, Joanna Lumley (stunning!), Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, James Haven, Dominic Maughan, Russell Crowe, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew Perry, Minnie Driver, Brigitte Nielsen, P!nk, Leanne Rimes, David Harewood (asked me on a date!), Steve McFadden, Ant & his wife, Ewan McGregor, Christina Ricci, Su Pollard (wacky!), Anton Ferdinand, Tara Fitzgerald, John Simm, Brian Dowling, BB Caggie, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Kirsten Duntz, Colin Salmon (flirt!), Carol from Eastenders - very shy. I saw Meg Ryan and Kylie Minogue, who very close by at the Borderline Club, but I did not 'meet' them. I got a quick signing from Beyonce once. Linda Lusardi's husband? |

I have something of a checkered history with celebrity.
When I was a kid on holiday in London in the 80s, me and my mum spotted Susannah York out of Superman buying bed sheets in Harrods. "Isn't that Susannah York?" I asked. She must've overheard and walked off quickly in the opposite direction. More recently, towards the end of the 90s, at Victoria's night club in Glasgow, I accidentally bumped into Noddy Holder from Slade on the dance floor. Being slightly worse for wear, and surprised to literally bump into Noddy Holder, I heard myself saying, "You're Noddy Holder." He took exception to being told his name by a clumsy drunk and told me to **** off. This kinda knocked the wind out of my sails, so I sulked off to the Gents where I found myself standing at the urinal next to Phillipe Albert, who was playing football for Newcastle Utd at the time. I don't know if word of the Noddy Holder incident had reached Phillipe at this point but for having the nerve to look at him with a I-think-I-recognize-you-from-somewhere kinda look on my face, he also told me to **** off. Then, back in 2011, I scored a ticket to see one of my heroes, Stewart Lee out of comedy, playing a small pre-Fringe gig in Falkirk. After the show, an early version of Carpet Remnant World, I was enjoying a pint while I killed some time before my train, when who should prop himself at the bar next to me but Mr Lee himself. Now, cautious of celebrity and wary that simply looking at them or saying their name aloud is usually enough to make then run away or become verbally abusive, I didn't want the same thing to happen with a hero of mine. I needn't have worried. He was tired from the show but happily listened to me rant about how great the show was and posed for the obligatory selfie and politely refused my offer to buy his pint. |

Funny how it seems to be the C and D listers who act the most stuck up.
It usually is the case, I used to be baffled by that, but I guess the A listers have nothing to prove.Quote:

The lady he was talking about is very well-known also.

Yeah you'd have thought it'd be obvious, but every time there's a news article about him the comment sections are forever slagging off for being a vile and nasty piece of work so apparently it's not quite as obvious to some as it'd seem.
Anyone with half a brain would be able to work out that he's playing up to a 'role' on his reality shows so I can only assume people think he is actually 'that person' are a pretty thick. |

I don't think I've ever read any articles by someone who has met Simon saying how vile and nasty a person he is. I have only ever seen nice things. There's been quite a few post in this thread proclaiming him as a top bloke.

Heard all sorts about Tess Daly. My mate found her to be very disingenuous, compared to Zoe and Claudia. |

I've always thought Simon Cowell to be a genuine and nice man even if I disagree with him a lot when it comes to music and the decisions he makes on his shows. It's incredible in this day and age how many people are still so clueless they don't understand a media persona is exactly that, a persona! Still, we have people who hurl abuse at actors in the street for things the characters they play said or did. Where's that rolling eye smily when you need it?

Ironically I seem to remember that he played a rather bitchy, camp hairdresser in the show, so perhaps he wasn't really acting!
![]() He was obviously still in character, or playing himself, yes!

A few from friends/family:
Kerry Katona (A-list I know) - She was apparently very nice and friendly, my bother was doing some work near her house and she came to say hello, he asked her for a selfie and she said she usually charges a fiver, he told her he usually charges a tenner for his so they should call it quits. She had a good laugh with them all and offered tea/drinks etc.Carl Barat (from the Libertines) - Very down to earth and friendly and made a lot of time for his fans. Robbie Williams - Very kind and recorded a message on my mates phone wishing his niece a happy birthday. Geri Halliwell - Extremely rude and obnoxious. Mick Jagger - A good laugh and very down to earth. |

Through my job I've had quite a lot of interaction with Alan Davies. He's a bit quieter than I first thought he would be, but he's very polite, friendly and always happy to engage in conversation!

Met John Challis on Monday evening. He's currently touring theatres with his one-man autobiographical show Only Fools And Boycie, and he is a great guy and natural raconteur on stage and off it. I saw him at the Redgrave Theatre, here in Bristol. He's nothing like Peckham's used-car salesman in real life, of course!
After the show he happily chatted to people, let them take selfies with him, and signed autographs, and copies of his books, if you wanted him to. I'd also taken the DVD cover of The Seeds Of Doom for him to sign, that's the Doctor Who serial he did with Tom Baker back in 1976, and he was quite happy to sign that too. Very pleasant man, Like him a lot.

@ Blanche.Dubois
I'm very jealous that you met Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly. Is there any more to tell from your meeting and is it true that Paul Bettany is taller than is advertised? |

No they really don't have be those things at all. But they do have to try not to be rude to people in such environments. It's a skill people can learn, if it doesn't come naturally. To JK I would say.....Can't be fagged with anyone talking to you about writing or anything connected thereto? Don't think randomers should really even have the temerity to approach you even though you've agreed to attend a function where it is likely? Don't agree to do such things.

My best mate was behind Joey Essex in a queue in a petrol station and he wctualkh used the words ' don't you know who I am?'
Another friend asked Roy from Corrie for s photo once and his wife told her to f**k off Once met Robbie Williams on a train from Manchester to London - just after he left TT - and he was the chattiest, friendliest, most obliging person ever. He posed for every photo he was asked for, and this was pre smartphone days so took ages and signed about 100 autographs |

Real classy. Nothing bad to say about him but he did seem to be a little melancholy. |
