LOL. First of all you have to enter competitions, as people say they don't win but don't actually try

Go for things you really want and be persistent. There is also some luck involved.

I'm acutally typing this from a laptop that I won a couple of years ago. I've won lots of things from concert tickets to tv's, sky tv subcriptions and things like awards shows/tv shows etc.

Reading thru all the posts, I've remembered that Boy George came into my Dad's shop years ago in the East End and my Dad said out loud to me and my sister "There's Boy George". Boy George stormed off in a huff.

Quick as a flash the lady replied, 'I was just coming to tell you how much I despise your music, television shows and behaiour to staff.'

Cilla and her people stormed out absolutely furious. We later received a letter of complaint from her PA which caused great mirth among staff.

Vile, shrill, shrieking old hag.”

Love that story. Never liked Cilla, even before I was aware of the tales about her. Something just never seemed genuine.

Cilla is apparently absoloutley hated in Liverpool. They think she is a plastic scouser and has forgotten her roots.

Celebs I have met...Hmm...Where to begin No I haven't really met that many celebs but the "Encounters" I did have were on the whole very pleasant!

So to start the ball rolling...
Jayne Torvill - Very shy but so lovely and yeah she really *is* that tiny in real life!
Christopher Dean - What can I say... Love this man and after meeting him I love him even more, he is a really nice guy, very nice and he smells and feels amazing (He hugged me)
(And most of the cast of Dancing on Ice)
Anton du Beke - What can I say 'bout Anton apart from he is exactly as you see him on Strictly, he's so charming, almost to flirtation level He's really witty too and he's just a generally lovely bloke, lot of time for him now.
Heinz-Harald Frentzen - *Ex German Jordan F1 Driver*Heinz again seemed very nice, a bit dry though in terms of his attempt at humour, I put that down to the German in him though.

My Grandfather was once looking round the gardens of a stately home when the Queen Mother came up and started to chat to him in a warm and friendly way. He was a humble man who had been a shoemaker all his life and I swear that the memory of that conversation stayed with him until his final hour.

Whenever I see her on TV these days, she seems half-pickled, and there acting as if she's doing everyone a favour.

First celeb (and this is really showing my age) was Ken Dodd, pulled me up on stage with him (I was 7 months pregnant at the time) made all sorts of jokes and gave me a diddy man toy for the baby (lovely lovely man)

Malandra Burrows (Cathy from Emmerdale) met her at a health farm, again lovely girl, very sweet.

George Best - he was booking into Health Farm as we checked out, what a fabulous guy!

And very on topic at the moment, met and spoke with and had pictures with Andrew Sachs, he was on a cruise we were on a few years ago, when he wasn't giving 'talks' he was generally found to be around the ship and had time for everyone.

The only person I've had the pleasure of meeting was Jimmy Carr - total and utter...nice guy. Has loads of time for everyone and is surprisingly down to earth and slightly, dare I say it, shy.

So funny that the poor guy ends up making himself more obvious. Must be a hell of a thing to cope with, being recognised if you are a genuinely private person.”

Oh absolutely. I agreed with the other poster that he did seem a bit grumpy, but to be honest I think that is just perhaps his nature. I should say that he wasn't rude or nasty in any way when I met him, just a little hard maybe.

I have met far too many to run through here, but generally I have found, the more A list and settled they are, the nicer they are. Those worthy of a mention are Robert DiNero, Robin Williams, Jack Nicholson, the late great Paul Newman, Sir Bobbie Robson, The much missed Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen, and the absolutely stunning Johnnie Depp. Dame Judy Dench is a complete lady as well and very happy to chat. I am sure there are others I have missed off but I am sure they will have alread been mentioned here. Oh David Beckham is sweet as well.... unlike his wife who is poison as is Barbara Winsor, Cilla Black and Katie Price. I wouldn't wish Vic Reeves on anyone and Ronan Keating is just plain rude.. only one in Boyzone that was.

Pleeease tell me more about meeting Freddie!! My hubby and I have met Brian May a few times - he's a lovely, lovely man.

I've met quite a few over the years....

Take That, I've met them loads since the comeback and they are such down to earth lovely guys. Gary gave me a massive cuddle and kiss when I told him I'd waited 15 yrs to meet him! I'm not so starstruck now when I meet them, and managed to have good chats with them all at bars & gigs. They really appreciate their fans

Ewan McGregor... really lovely and down to earth, met him filming and although tired he had time for us. Saw him again a couple of yrs ago, he turned up to see some friends of mine who are in a band. He had his young daughter so I didn't approach him, but those who did got photos and autographs.

Ant & Dec, I first met them when I was 13 (I'm 27 now!) and back then Ant was really quiet, but Dec was so lovely and friendly. Held my hand for ages seen them several times over the years, and Ant is much more confident and just as friendly as Dec. I don't have a bad word to say about them.

David Beckham, again first time I met him I was 14...and he was fairly unknown then but very friendly and very shy. A couple of years later and he was very famous, but still a lovely lovely guy.

Other people I've met who are lovely are Robert Downey Jr, Lee Sharpe (love him so much!), Lionel Richie, Myleene Klass, Tom Chambers, Phil Daniels. I know I've forgotten a few....

Ooops I forgot the lovely Brian May (possibly the nicest celeb of all time), met him in a private room at We Will Rock You Musical (!), I'd somehow got given some tickets from publishers of his book. My sister made me late, and I felt embarrassed running in to the room half way through him chatting. But he was an absolute sweetheart....insisted on getting me a drink, and chatted to everyone. Just seemed such a normal guy

Wow! Can you please tell us how you met them? Robert DeNiro usually gets bad press for being unfriendly and reserved?

1982, Elland Road, I worked in Hospitality (yes I am very old!) The band were fab, what more can I say. Freddie was actually very quiet and reserved before the concert and walked off that stage absolutely exhausted but he and the rest didn't forget their fans or the "little" people and made time for them

I have worked in hospitality at Heathrow and also travelled. Mr DeNiro was a "formal" hospitality meeting when he flew into Heathrow and he was gracious and friendly, though quiet. Al Pacino is another one who gets bad press at times, but I found him to be great.

Others who have been lovely

Julie Walters.
Michael Caine (never manage to meet his wife, shame),
Cliff Richard (hate his music, but he was gracious, if a bit false... always travelled with his Manager and always seemed "very" friendly with him )
Samuel L Jackson (sooooooooo cool)
David Jason .. and sooo many others.

I try and forget those who are less than gracious or just plain rude, as they aren't worthy of any more thought, but some, like Victoria Beckham and Cilla Black, you can't forget because they lack basic courtesy and manners, oh and always look haggard when I saw them... and Cilla Black is a mean "lady" when she has had a drink.... something she frequently (VERY) does.

My great grandad used to work in a market in london and Ciilla Black was roaming around with a tv camera crew in tow she approached him and he told her to 'b*gg*r off' and then when she said 'dont you know who I am?' he replied 'yeah your that silly bl**dy cow off the telly'

Never had the chance to meet my great grandad but bless him! hee hee.

I've heard great things about Jimmy Carr too.

Apparently very different from his screen persona.

My aunt was on Blind Date and told us that after the show there were 'drinks' - she said that cilla stayed for a few minutes, spoke to nobody and then buggered off

She also said that during the taping of the show, Cilla was nice as pie whilst the camera's were rolling, but the second they were off she changed completely and didn't speak to a soul.
