Without in any way intending to have a go, but just for information...
A brief trawl through a search on "Cherie" reveals 8 or 9 threads started to basically have a go at Cherie for one thing or another, and I know that there are several others which weren't started for that purpose but which Cherie-detractors used to have a good old fashioned bitch about how she is overmarked, has too much experience/an unfair advantage, can't dance fast, is cold, calculating, just doing SCD as a job... yadda yadda yadda. (There have also been a couple of piss-take threads, along the lines of "let's have another C bashing thread/is C responsible for the recession" which I did not include in my count as being obviously tongue in cheek) I couldn't be bothered to trawl back any further, or to search out the threads that didn't start as Cherie bashing threads, but I found enough in that brief foray.
Given that we've only just got into week 8, eg at least one new thread has appeared every week, (and I don't think they really started until a week or so in when she began to be perceived as a decent dancer and it came clear she wouldn't suffer the usual old-lady eviction) it isn't surpising that some of her supporters feel a little set upon! I couldn't say whether others have suffered more, but even to my reasonably (I hope!) unprejudiced eyes, Cherie has come in for her fair share of bashing and more, and for yet another thread about how rubbish she is to come up when there was at least one ("Cherie Lunghi: Vastly Overrated?") appropriate thread to use on the front page of the forum... it's not surprising that people (Cherie supporters and neutrals alike) have got a bit bored, especially when SO much of the bitchery has been inaccurate or just plain ignorant ("she clearly can't do Latin/fast dances" - apart from the rumba and the group dances of course, and her Paso was not fabulous but passable - "she's a trained ballerina" - um, no, she did ballet class till the age of 16, there's a big difference - and so on). I'm not suggesting, by the way, that your comments are either ignorant or inaccurate, Ignazio, just pointing out that some of the criticism leveled at Cherie has bordered on the ridiculous. (I know your fave had his share of bitchy threads, too - just pointing out that the Cherie supporters' annoyance is equally understandable)
Personally I'm reserving judgment on Cherie and the Latin dances when the only fast one she's done solo was so utterly and blatantly at odds with her personality and any dance/pilates training she's had (most celebs, after all, are allowed one crap dance aren't they?), and I think it's arguable whether she "should" have been above or below Heather on the leaderboard - Cherie wasn't very good but Heather was also pretty poor. The one time I've really felt Cherie was genuinely overmarked was in her Paso, and in fairness, she is not by any stretch the only celeb to have been overmarked.
I'm not a special Cherie fan, I've enjoyed some of her performances and not others, and she has not even come close to inspiring me to vote, but even I am bored to tears by the frequency of the posters who claim that someone who is clearly a talented dancer (though arguably she has yet to prove whether she's more than a one trick (slow and elegant) pony in the solo rotuines) is completely rubbish when frankly, she ain't, and it takes about twenty seconds of the majority of her routines to prove that.
