iPhone - insurance claim
Evening all,
Wondering if I can get a bit of advice... Basically, I'm insured by NatWest for my iPhone, which I managed to drop and break the screen today. It just won't turn on and the glass is all smashed. Apparently, it's not a short process - the claim form will take 24 hours to email to me, then that's got to be assessed, then in three working days I need to send the phone and kit to them, then they'll tell me that it's not repairable (she even said they can't get parts to repair them at the moment), and then they'll either give me the cash or send me a new one. My thought is that I could buy a new one from O2, but would they let me do this? What are the risks? Has anyone got any advice on getting a replacement iPhone in anything less than what seems like weeks?!? |

PAYG or Contract?
Call O2 and Apple, see if either can help you out. You could just get another unit on PAYG and try and claim the money back from your insurance company.... |

Dunno where the insurance company will try and get their replacement from. I suppose they'd have to pay full price to O2, but there must be some deal as the average punter, until recently, couldn't get one without a contract!
Looks like I'll have their decision by Monday, which is good. I'll push for them to send one out as I send mine back. |

Remember if they give you cash, you may not get the total amount it would cost to purchase a brand new one unless you specifically have an "old for new" term or clause in your policy. |

Depending on the policy you might not even get the same model of phone. A friend claimed through his bank insurance, they paid off the remaining two months of his contract and got him a cut-price deal with Vodafone.
I would definitely check your policy to see what it says. |
