Week 8 Dances
LisaxBrendan
03-11-2008
Really excited about this weekend every is soooooo good.
Thought I start with noting down the dances they are all doing this week. This is all I know so far, anyone know anything else?

Austin and Erin: Rumba
Cherie and James: Waltz
Tom and Camilla: Quickstep

Austin's going to find the rumba interesting to say the least. Will be his toughest challenge yet IMO - if he succeeds he'll definitely be in the final three I think.

Tom should be good at the Quickstep. Ballroom is his strongest suit, and I think he'll cope well at it. Likewise, Waltz is right back in Cherie's comfort zone after a couple of dodgy weeks.

It's fair to guess that Austin will struggle with the rumba, though perversely as a fan I think it would be good for him to have a wobble and some really harsh comments from the judges to stop him seeming like teachers' pet. I also think that the men can afford to have a weak rumba with a lot of the voters. Mind, if he ends up mid-table, we'll see how many votes he is getting.

Tom and Camilla should shine in the Quickstep, except that I hate her music choice. Great song, but not ballroom. I know I might like it when I see it, with the 'Billy Elliot' theme, but I can't believe I wouldn't have prefered it with a more 'Fred and Ginger' song.

Cherie and James can really enjoy the waltz, thankfully, after such a rough week.

I think it will work, but it's a shame really when he's so keen on Fred Astaire that they're not using something from that era. I understand the pros choose their music long before they meet their partners though so I guess she had no way of knowing that.

Oh - terribly sorry for anyone who didn't realise my abbreviated AS to mean American Smooth. I can see how it could be confused with other dances that have 2 words in them and start with an A followed by a word beginning with S.
I thought some might be able to work it out but I guess my cryptic abbreviations were too much for some

There AS was Fred Astaire era. So I think she created the actual story aroud Tom's dreams when she knew she got him. I mean I can see the Tom/Billy connection even if its not exactly the same.

Yeah, I got that! I wasn't criticising her, I just think it's a shame for both of them that they can't dance to more traditional music since he's obviously quite keen on ballroom for itself, whereas some other contestants probably suit more modern tracks even for traditional dances. I'm really looking forward to the routine in any case.

I reckon there could be two more tens this week- for Tom's Quickstep and Cherie's Waltz.

It's ok - I work in IT (information technology) so I guess I should be used to having to talk to dummies.

So what constitutes IT in a third world country?

oh I agree. What you want and what you get with Camilla are always different LOL and I say that as a fan of hers. It can be frustrating cos when she gets it right she can get a perfect dance routine.
