This may sound a bit daft but can John Sargent win SCD, i ask this question because people are voting for him to stay in the competition

I know he like to have a laugh and not competitive

It might also shock the likes of Austin and some of the others

I dunno... I think he will go within the two weeks as I can see the novelty wearing thin with the public (Garraway Style)

I think he may have problems with endurance, when it gets to two dances a week.

No he can't win.

Viewers panic every year and every year the overall best dancer triumphs.

Let's not get our knickers in a twist and enjoy John while he's still entertaining us.

No, I do not think he will win. He may reach as far as Kenny Logan perhaps, but that will be the limit.

His problem is avoiding the bottom two...because it's very likely he'll go in any dance-off.

When it gets to the latter stages, he would need some luck to do so even if he is getting the most votes.

In fact the judges can always get rid of him by putting him at the bottom of the leader board and making everyone else equal first.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the quarters or semis though.

Yes he could win because when it come to the final the public decide the winner . I'm still not sure if the order in which the couples are announced to dance again the following week corresponds to the vote received. If so John received the third least votes, so maybe the public wanting John to stay is waning.

It's possible. Christopher Parker nearly won and he was far worse than John though equally entertaining.

I hope John is out soon because - as Craig reminds us - SCD is a dancing competition. John has been an excellent sport but enough is enough.

Yes he can. If enough people vote for him. It depends what the public are after....I think he may get to about the final 4

I think he will stay another couple of weeks and then people want the best dancers to stay, this year there havent been any shock exits so at the minute the worst dancers are going so it doesnt really matter. Hes entertaining and he makes me laugh - saying that i dont want him in the final few. Christopher Parker was series 1 things are very different, the last few series pretty much the right people have been in the final 3. Hope this continues!!!!

I can see this happening too.

The judges are making it all worse: Craig and Arlene have started preaching to the audience about why they shouldn't vote for John as it's a dance competition (or, in Craig's case, a "darnce" competition). But audiences historically don't like being told what to do and, if they dig their heels in, he could, terrifyingly, go all the way ...

I think the producers need to stop favouring certain dancers and work out a strategy to get rid of John before he blows the show's credibility ... although that would doubtless fill Simon Cowell's heart with joy. Come to that, maybe it's him and all his cronies who are voting for John ...?

But that was in the days before dance-offs and the judges being able to decide who makes it through. Eventually he's going to find himself in the dance-off and I doubt the judges would save him over anyone else left in the competition.

Very unlikely. I am assuming that he will always be ranked last by the judges and voted off by them in the dance-off. He would therefore have to come top in the public vote to avoid the dance-off in the semi final, and rely on the public voting in second place the couple ranked first by the judges. A similar story applies in the quarter final.

As surprised as I've been at how much I've enjoyed watching John...I think his time is almost up.

The bottom two next Saturday will be Heather (again) and John. The gang of 4 will save Heather (again) and it'll be good night John.

John has been bottom of the judges leaderboard every week, and never been in a dance off. Which means a fair few people are voting for him.

The saved couples names are read out in no particular order, so I don't think you can judge his voting numbers by the order of names read out.

People are enjoying John and Kristina. Is that so bad? I really don't see the problem, apart from Austin most of the dancers have had bad weeks, and John has more charm than the rest of them put together! I can see why people are getting frustrated about the fact he has so much voting support, but I get frustrated about some other dancers who have the judge's support week after week.

My opinion might not be popular across the board, but John winning would not be such a bad thing. And it is not an impossible scenario either.

OMG I sincerely hope not. He was lovely when the show first started, like everyone's favourite cuddly uncle, but now he seems rather arrogant (he clearly doesn't think he needs to put any effort into the dancing 'cos "the public will save us"); he is no longer entertaining, and is just plain boring. (Sorry, John lovers!)

And why should we need to shock Austin and the others? Those who work hard and produce good results, are not so likely to be shocked if John won, but just view the show - and the voting public - with contempt.

I know it's an entertainment show, but it is also about dancing.

I suspect he'll go this week, which would be about right, if one of the favourites has a weaker dance, and this is very possible with Austin having the rumba, then the sympathy vote may well switch to him, leaving John in big trouble. Plus, these days it does tend to be more about the dancing, once it starts reaching the 'sharp end' the bad, but the public love them, dancers tend to be shed pretty quickly.

I hope he goes this week or next personally. It wouldn't be a travesty if Heather left first, but if he goes any further than next week he'll be knocking out decent dancers. I'd hate to see him win.

Not a hope - I think he might go next week - he's survived this long because there were other people who weren't very good still in the competition but the only other person who seems to be struggling is Heather who has got pulling it out of the bag in the dance-off down to a fine art. Chrstine, Jodie and Austin may struggle this week but they've got enough popular support to be saved from a dance-off - I think. I think his days are numbered and he'll be gone by the quarter-final at the very latest.

I think John will go this week, which is a shame because I find all the other contestants left now a bit boring. This would be all right if they were brilliant dancers but they're not, they're just okay. This year I find myself waiting for SCD to finish instead of dreading it. At least if John stayed it would still have some humour.

But for John's sake I hope he goes. He will become very unpopular if he stays much longer, and he doesn't deserve that.

I don't know why people keep calling this a dance competition it isn't it's a reality tv show just like any other. Not so much a cash cow these days either. That being the case the public decide who wins - there is no chance of the BBC trying to fix it either the regulator would take a dim view so forget the trying to have everybody except John equal first.
I doubt John will win but who knows? He's completely different to either Garraway or Logan - one was completely inept and supported by GM TV the other was very much an ethnic thing.(ie people voting for somebody because of their nationality). John's engaged the public with his antics and is liked by a broad cross section of the public.

Oh and if people continue to vote for him why should anyone object? A few celebrity groupies here perhaps and the purists but they are a minuscule part of the voting public. It's already been said elsewhere that a pure dance competition would have limited general appeal and I've no wish to discuss those fixated by one individual or another.

No of course not, the best dancers always win in the end and are always in the final...Clary and Parker excepted but there is a lot more better dancers since then and the public are more educated.

I would expect him to go this week.

Two reasons:
(1) It's called Strictly Come Dancing

(2) The head judge,Len, said it's a dancing contest.
