OK, so some are already complaining on the Beeb's website about it being another case of 'nanny state' interference, but if issuing clear cut guidelines on looking after pets is what it takes to prevent more animal cruelty cases, then this can only be a good thing!
Besides, too many people often purchase animals on a whim because they think they're cute and they haven't the faintest idea about looking after them! (None of you FMs, of course.
)
