I have 5 goldfish the oldest is 6yrs and in teh past two weeks he has gradually turned black in different areas, especially near his mouth.

Some people say its ammonia but none of the other fish are affected and he seems fine,eating etc...is it old age?

Mine went from totally black to totally orange/gold!!

Maybe it was a pet shop scam and the paint wore off.

Our goldfish turned from completely orange to silver, well the first two have anyway and now our Moby his on his way to the silver too, they almost glitter in the tank and they're massive, I was told it was because they were maturing, so don't worry!

Ohhh thanks for that my fish have turned silver too and the others are on their way glad its nothing serious just old age !! bless them !! ha ha
