Touchscreen Mobiles?
Which touchscreen mobile phone (with the exception of the iphone) is the best? I was just wondering what the opinions of this forum were. Thanks.

Best for photos, best for music, best for ease of use, best value, best for storage? The list is endless. |

Not really, depends what you mean by "overall"? I suspect what you mean is "What is your ideal touchscreen phone and why?" But you could mean "Of the phones you have tried which was best and why?" or "If money was no object, which is the ultimate touchscreen phone?" Or several other meanings.
Overall - Including everything; comprehensive I would think it was a simple question. Which touch screen is better then the rest? So all of your examples would fit into this question. As everyone will have their own reason as to which is the best, and this is what the OP was asking for, opinions on which people think is the 'best' |

The Blackberry Storm is a pretty good phone but there are a couple of things I don't like about it and that is the lack of Wi-Fi and the camera - only 3 megapixel. Also, would have liked a larger screen.
The HTC Touch Diamond is also very good, and it has Wi-Fi, but I reckon the screen's too small for a touchscreen and again maybe the camera could be better. |

You didn't say 'overall', you just asked which is the best. And as I pointed out there is no 'best'. But subsequently you have gone in to more detail so now we know what you're actually asking. Keep it in mind for next time.
Best - One that surpasses all others I don't think it needed expending on. To surpass all others it has to incorporate everything. Also the fact that the OP said Quote:

What I call 'best' in a phone includes a quality camera so I could say a phone which has an awesome camera but otherwise useless. You might think the iPhone is the best for media storage but has a pathetic camera, therefore it isn't "the best".
You really do need to state what you're looking for in a phone when you want to decide which is 'the best'. Clarity is all it takes. |

Ok. Let me put it like this. Which touchscreen phone, taking into account all it's features, stands above the rest for you?
I rarely agree with Talizman and we have had some "full and frank" discussions with him in the past. However, I'm with him on this one. Back to your question. I, personally, have never found a touchscreen phone that works for me. They either have features missing (iPhone, especially the poor browser and camera) or are fiddly to use, awkward to enter text (LG) or have many bugs (Samsung) or have unresponsive touchscreens (some LG models). I would heartily recommend that you try one before buying. In my opinion, it would be better to wait for the technology to evolve a little. In twelve months time, when the gestural interfaces being developed by Nokia and Apple are available, touchscreens might be a better bet. |

You have to be prepared for compromise, so unless you can say that browsing/camera/multimedia are your lesser features than you are gonna end up with these problems. |

I'm waiting for the HTC HD to came out though and compair that with the Black Berry Storm. The only thing that they HTC HD is missing is a flash with the camera (stupid as it's got a 5mp camera on there). I think the HD is just coming out on Orange for 3 months or so, but I have seen some sites saying that you can get it for free on O2 as well. |

For windows mobile devices the HTC Touch Pro HD looks to be the best. For Blackberry - the new Blackberry storm is said to be very highly rated (the first credible iphone killer).
For OS X mobile it is the iPhone and I forget which is the best device for Symbian. |

Oh FFS why is are some people on this forum so awkward. I came in for a little help and advice regarding touch screen phones. As it goes what I have highlighted is what I want to know. Does that make it easier for you. So can you help me out now please!?
Anyways, I have only used one touch screen phone but out of the others that I have read reviews of and know the specs of, I would say the HTC Diamond is a good little phone. |
