Okay. I misread your post.

I thought you meant we shouldn't have tap in QS, but Matt DA did a pretty neat tap sequence in his QS (final) and he did a commendable job that even Craig praised it.

But it's A Town Called Malice. <sobs gently>

In all the times I've seen Mr Weller (and various Co's) perform it, somehow he has always restrained the urge to break into a soft shoe shuffle. Which is as it should be.

Of all the things it calls for, tap dancing ain't top of the list

Well, it can't be any worse than Rachel and Vincent's Jive/Lindyhop opening to their American Smooth!

Out of interest, how do we know they're using "A Town Called Malice"?

There's another song from Billy Elliot the musical called "Born to Boogie" that could be used, or there's obviously "We Love To Boogie" which has been used before but there's nothing saying it's not going to be used again. Depends whether she's using music from the film or the musical!

If he danced a passable (but not brilliant) tap in the routine, then audience might not be 'moved' to vote for him, and if Len rubbished it, he might end up in the bottom two instead. Camilla is taking a gamble here, I am afraid.”

ah I see - tbh I've taken to muting Tom on ITT in case the w***** is mentioned for 54th time

well if nothing else it shows how competative Camilla is (good for her) - she's clearly hoping it will overshadow Austins QS of the week before. Btw is competativeness allowed if your a female pro?? obv it's not allowed if your a female celeb

I never think competitiveness is allowed if you're a female pro or celeb, it tends to scare people..but I'm sure all us women out there would be competitive if we were to go on Strictly.

Can someone tell me how we worked out what song Tom's quickstepping to already please?

me I'd be out in the first week because I'm tragically competative

I thought they said on ITT on Monday

Ah, all I heard was "a song from Billy Elliot.." and that's as far as I heard, but obviously there's the film and stage version. I did come across another great high speed song from the musical..but ho hum.

Are they?
Thats the song Matt D and Alesha had to dance too in the final wasnt it?
Matt D did a quick step with tap dancing, i wonder if camilla will just copy Flavias routine

Again, I didn't hear that bit, I was probably expecting something about the wedding to pop up!

Edit: Just heard her say it, she did literally whisper and say it quickly so explains why I didn't hear it. Suprised she didn't go for one of the other upbeat numbers from the stage version. But ho hum. I'm looking forward to it, we see different not always necessarily conventional dances so there's nothing stopping them being out of the norm!

Given the song intro what it might be is the opening 15 seconds and then into hold

this sounds a bit ridiculous! Tom has taught himself to tap dance. He's been obsessed with Fred Astaire since the age of 5. It just shows his love of dancing, nothing more.

Does your 'sense of fairness' say that all the stage school trained dancers like Rachel, Cherie, etc be automatically excuded from having a chance of winning?

It doesn't matter if Tom dances on his head he isn't going to be eliminated so I hope he shows us his tap dance. What's Camilla going to do though during it?

Forming the 'Anti B*oody Len Society' with Vincent and Craig, I think.

Tap dancing does not 'belong' in a Quickstep!

Len will hate it, but unfortunately the other three could disagree.

There has been much discussion about this being 'Strictly Come Dancing' and not 'Strictly Come BALLROOM Dancing' but all of the routines being used are ballroom/latin and the professionals are expert ballroom/latin dancers.

If Tap is to be added, then why not ballet, hip-hop etc etc.

Shame on Camilla, can't she choreograph a decent routine without the addition of a Tap sequence?

PS The cape in Paso Doble is acceptable in a professional display but not in an amateur competition.

Why am I not surprised by this! Camilla is so desperate to win Strictly she will anything.

Why do they have to do solos for goodness sake the Quickstep and all other ballroom dances are about dancing together in hold.

Len I agree with absolutely hate it and I think this will do them no favours at all.

I do not like her dancing routines at all. I think Flavia commented on ITT show this week that their dance last weekend was like a show dance and she did not like it.

I don't understand what the big deal is about the Paso cape. In previous years virtually all Pasos have included a cape. Why is it this year that everyone is saying it shouldn't be there?

I felt sorry for Tom - he would have had no idea he would get such a reaction about the cape after seeing pervious series and no-one commenting on it!

Hmm...this might deserve a thread all of its own! I've never thought of Camilla as being the over-competitive type, but I guess there are arguments on both sides.

Reasons why Camilla might be desperate to win:
1. She's been in the semis twice and was a little bit robbed to have Ray voted out early. She could be thinking it's her turn to shine.
2. Tom is IMO the most talented of the male celebs (I like Austin better but think Tom edges him in terms of style) and it would be a travesty if he didn't make the final.
2. I can't believe any girl could be engaged to Brendan for as long as Camilla was and NOT have a competitive streak, just to keep up with him

Reasons why Camilla might not be desperate to win:
1. She's a hard taskmaster, but she always seems nice with it: she never gets OTT like Lilia can!
2. As a thin blonde glamorous type who's getting lots of lucrative deals just from being on SCD, she's doing fine even without winning.

Hmm...that seems to be 3 reasons for and 2 against.
OK, I admit it, she's desperate to win!

I suppose, if the tap sequence is right at the beginning, and what gets them into hold, then it might just work, if it's mid routine and consists of Tom tap dancing whilst Camilla does the flailing thing, then it's going to look odd.

With regards Camilla being desperate to win, of course she is, just like every single one of the pros, they all want it, and those that have partners with ability, like Camilla does, will want it even more. A lot is made of sports people on the programme having the competative edge, well surely the dancers have exactly the same edge and determination to win? Some show it more then others, but don't tell me Erin/Kristina/Vincent/Brendan etc don't want it as much as Camilla.

They said Billy Elliott theme and that the song was Town called Malice (camilla said that before Claudia could shut her up!).
