It??? Does your new kitten have a gender?

7 weeks, "it" should still be with its mother.

Call a vet ASAP as your kitten could get or be very ill and next time do some research before you get a pet....

Too young to be away from it's mother. Take it back before it dies.

7 weeks is rather young to be out on it's own without it's mother. It should be on milk.

You can make up a formula milk of milk and eggs or condensed milk and eggs for the poor little mite. This should be warm. It is probably better to ask your vet what they suggest.

They would probably suggest that your kitten should be in a home with lactating cats.

It is possible to wean it yourself,my family have done so in the past with a runt who lived to be 17.

Kittens often have nest fleas and worms that you don't want in the house or near your kids.

Good luck and please get it checked over at the vets!

A bit extreme perhaps.

8 weeks is recommended, but they can manage at 6 if they're looked after properly.

Whats it's history?

Has it been weaned? (It hasn't by the sound of it ... so you're gonna have to do it)

Wormed? Checked over by a vet at all?

Ah right.

So he's been checked over by a vet then if he's been wormed.

What about weaning? Do you know if it had started moving onto any sort of solid food before it was given to you or was it solely on mums milk?

You may want to give the vet a quick call and see what suggest in the way of weaning food.

Don't give him cow milk ..... that'll likely just upset his stomach!

had a similar problem with one of my cats, i ended up having to syringe special cat milk very gently into her mouth, we soon built up to tiny dried biscuits, everything is completely fine she's a greedy cat and despite that she still is a slim as anything! Not that thats anything to do with it lol

When I got my two at 8 wks old, one was touch and go with her food for a while and ate hardly anythign so I bought a nourishment paste called Nourish-Um (contains all the vitamins they need and is high in calories) and gave them both a little of this each morning on my finger. Luckily they loved it. I also gave them Sainsbury's kitten milk which they loved (they still get this as a treat ever so often). Eventually, the female kitten picked up eating....two years on, they are very big cats (which I put solely down to the nourishment paste) and have very healthy appetites....little porkers

Forgive me but you were the one *still* referring to your kitten as "IT" and you are the one that seems to clearly know nothing about having and looking after a kitten!!

You kitten is still too young to be away from its mother and probably hasn't been fully weaned yet - if you do not seek professional advice he could get very poorly.

So I suggest if you haven't done so already you contact your local vet - and do it ASAP.

Hope little kitten is OK but I have to say from your OP you don't seem to be particularly interested or enthusiastic about your new addition?

I think seven weeks is fine and it should be weaned by now (although personally I'd wait til eight weeks).

Tiny kittens don't eat much though so depending on how much you are giving it, maybe it is eating enough.

Is he pooing? Is he playing like a normal kitten? If yes to both those questions then he's probably fine but if not and he's lethargic, take him to the vet as at that age he will go downhill quickly if he's eating no food at all.

He might be a bit distressed being away from his mum and the rest of the litter so he could be just settling in.

What are you feeding him? Is it what his breeder fed him?
