Ok, so think I have decided to buy the following kit, which looks to fit my bill well and be around only £1100!

Television - Sony KDL40W4500 £850

Blu-Ray & DVD player - Panasonic DMP-BD35 £230-£250

Does anyone have anything to warn me against???

Should be no problem whatsoever, Excellent TV & Player, however you might want to consider swapping the BD player for the Sony S350 & save yourself £60 -£80. You will get at least as good results & the remotes will work each other as will the HDMI CEC control. My only gripe about the excellent S350 is why the heck did they have to make it Blue! or is that the new black?

HDMI CEC control is a way for HDMI enabled products to communicate & operate each other, e.g I have a Samsung Panel & Samsung BD player, both remotes work each others respective equipment & it is also possible to press one on swith to turn on the TV & BD Player etc.

In my case it runs through an Onkyo 875 Receiver; I can just push the on switch on my BD player remote & this will turn on the BD Player, Amp., TV & select the correct HDMI input & again one switch will power it all down.

each manufacturer have their own version & some work with each other (and some dont!), Toshiba works with my Samsung & I think but not 100% the Sony works with Panasonic.

Sorry dont know anything about DIVX as I dont use it but i also note the £450 Onkyo does not do it either but the Panasonic does, I guess if it's important to you then thats the way to go.
