Is Len Bl**dy?
SCD-Observer

Vincent (unwittingly?) swore at Len calling him 'bloody'.

Do you think Len is 'bloody'?

Unfortunately, I think he is. That Ask Len segment really got to me in tonight's ITT. Because of the ninny segment, we don't get to see Austin's and Christine's training clip.

What do you think?

I laughed when Vincent said that - he's the only pro that can get away with coming out with stuff like that!

I think the kindly and harmless Vincent might be shaking like a leaflet now that he realised he actually swore on national TV! And on someone whom they would like to please this Saturday!

He's so endearing that way!

He's cheeky but charming

Yes. In saying that, Vincent's choreography was partly to blame for Len not liking Rachel's jive. It looks like he's going to mess up the AS too.

Don't understand the lindy hop business in his AS. But I believe Craig and Darren said Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers did some quirky qs-inspired Smooth too, so Len can't possibly fault them for 'doing something new' because they are still keeping to the spirit of the dance!

But knowing Len, if he knew Vincent called him 'bloody' on national TV, he will be petty enough to mark Rachel down. And if Rachel's in the bottom, he might even save the other (less competent) couple just for the sake of it.

Was just saying on another thread- doing something different tends to get right on Len's nerves rather than cause him to be gushing in his praise....

Still I suspect Len enjoyed getting a name check!

I like Vincent's risky and innovative choreography. It makes his routines exciting. I'm rather looking forward to the AS

Len has said the B word qutie a few times on the Saturday show, and nobody seems to worry. He's even said it in America, where they usually faint at such things. I think Claudia is a bit over-cautious.

I thought at least in the UK, Len said 'blimmin' instead of bloody...

Of course we know what Len was actually trying to say.

Why is blimmin' better than bloody anyway???

A couple of weeks back, I could have sworn (haha) that he said 'f*** it up' rather quietly followed quickly by 'muck it up' but no-one else seemed to have noticed on here, so I didn't want to start 'muckraking'. Then Jo Whiley said something about Len being a 'pottymouth' in the very show I'm talking about, which she quickly smoothed over by referring to a 'blimey' or whatever.

SCD- O normally you know I love you but I have to disagree witht the second half of this- he marked them down on Saturday for valid technical reasons and anyway since when is 8 a 'down' score. Please.

This is getting very out of hand (nearly as bad as the Cherie bashing threads!)- Len may have been grumpy, and whatever the comments, but he hasn't really marked Rachel down at all yet.

Personally I am looking forward to their AS and hope I dont feel as let down as I was by their jive.

The last thing I want is to be at odds with you.

I don't think Len actually did any thing wrong with his score to Rachel. But if Len dislike something in the past, he often tried to say it in a positive way.

I recalled him having a go at Craig for criticising someone (can't remember who now) last series, and Len said 'you are here to encourage, not criticise!' and last week he had a go with Craig again saying 'the cape has nothing to do with ballroom dancing!'

Of course, technically speaking, he's right. But where's that 'encouraging' Len 'with a boyish grin' he prides himself to be?

Len hasn't mark any one down by other judges' standards. If he can give Andrew 7 (as encouragement) and 7 also to Tom (because he's disappointed with his footwork) - both danced the VW in week 6, then he's actually less consistent than he ought be - being the head judge that he is...

Perhaps we should let this thread die it's natural death?

edit to add: I remembered now. It was to Matt DA that Craig was rightly critical of. But Len just put him down like a fire. And this season, when Arlene was trying to concur with Erin about Austin's 'lacklustre' Samba, saying 'changing steps' or something, Len gave her the nastiest look, like Bruno said, it's like a Life Sentence!

Len gets very frustrated and short tempered if someone he thinks can be really good doesn't live up to his expectations. He was like that with Kelly last year. In some ways it's a compliment but it must be difficult for Rachel and Vincent to see it that way. When all is said and done they've always been towards the top of the board so there is probably less of a problem than there appears to be.

Having said that, to my less discerning eyes their jive looked brilliant. Still I can see that a lack of standard steps might count against them as Darren explained (and even Flavia said).

Not at odds darling- just we are being adults and disagreeing in a lovely way! *hugs* (sorry couldn't be in a bad mood on such an historic day! am soooooo happy!)

Who knows what Len does with his paddles really!! I have to say that it makes me laugh that there is all this about Len not liking them when Craig gave them a 7! Oh well- same as onn here- each to their own! However as someone said if they want to court Len's approval then maybe the choreography should be more to Lens favourites- like Erin does no faffing (Camilla may need to take note also?!).

I have to say that maybe he is bored of the new nice Craig!

I am co-dependent that way!
