So I'm getting a TV for Christmas, it'll be 32'' and I've narrowed it down to two choices: this or this. At first I wanted to go with the Samsung because our TV downstairs is a Samsung and is fantastic, and you get the half price stand with the Play.com deal, but for an extra £20 I could get the Bravia, which I've heard nothing but good things about.

The TV is for my bedroom, mainly for using with my PS3 and so it wouldn't make sense for me to get anything bigger than 32'' because of pricing and also because it would look silly having a TV bigger than that in my room, but the fact that it's 720p shouldn't matter because the PS3 still looks good? I'll probably end up going for the Bravia, because it's a fantastic price and as I said I've heard nothing but good things about them. But is the Bravia I've chosen a good choice?

Also, a few questions about putting it on the wall - how easy is it to put the TV on the wall? Do you prefer your TV on the wall or on a stand? Also, how do you plug things like HDMI cables and scart leads into the TV? What wall bracket would you reccomend for this TV? Also, does the wall you put the TV on have to be a proper brick wall and not the 'fake' walls (lol, that is an absolutely ridiculous way to describe house walls)? I've never really fancied the idea of a TV on the wall, but it would save a fair bit of space in my room, I guess.

EDIT: Just seen the Sony TV on Amazon for £385.

I'd take the Sony over a Samsung.

I would recommend the Samsung instead of the Sony. As you said you already have a Samsung and it's brilliant.
But buy it from amazon and you can get it for £359

My budget is £400. My question is though, I'm going to get the Sony one, and will only really be using it for my PS3, but is it 720p? On the back of most of the games is 720p not 1080p, so the 720p will still be excellent to use for the PS3? Plus as it's only in my bedroom I can't go any bigger than 32''.

The set won't be 720P, it will be 768 pixels (a common mistake here) - you can try setting the PS3 for either 1080P (if the TV accepts it), 1080i, or 720P - and see which you find best. Generally 1080 (either i or P) is best, but some people prefer 720P instead - it's a personal setting, set it as you personally find best.

We've got a recently done 'wall' of all current Sony 32 inch sets, all fed from the same HD source - and you can't tell the slightest difference between them - I consider it's a really poor sales display

Where you find the difference is mostly in how they perform on SD material, with the more expensive ones been better, but all perform well anyway.

But it's still HD so the PS3 will still look good on it?

Absolutely, displaying SD on an HD set is much harder and requires much more processing than displaying HD, the easiest to display is a 1080p whether the TV has 1080 or 768 lines.

Despite that the number of people that decide to upgrade their TV to a better model (not bigger which would make sense) when they get an HD source is astonishing.

I'm about to give you another dilemma.....Following the launch by Panasonic of a new range of Vierja sets with FreeSat HD built in, Sony are planning to follow suit and will probably drop the prices of their current models (AHEM!) You just can't win at the moment, IF you can afford to, wait till the dust settles in the market and you should pick up an absolute belter of a bargain.....

P.S. There is a rumour circulating that the Chancellor may reduce VAT by 5%!!!! That's got to be good news!

I don't see as introducing a Freesat IDTV (at a much higher price) would cause any price drop in the normal TV's - certainly Panasonic didn't.

That sounds even less likely!
