we have a small garden, no room to run, as this house had a conservatory when we bought it. during the summer, we leave the doors open, and the kids belt in from the garden to the lounge and back again, but there really is very limited space out there. although, it is secure! as the kids use the garden, i would be wary about letting the dog poop there. i would, of course, clean up after it in all circumstances, but if i let it out in the back garden then went to sort one of the kids, for example, then i may miss some poo! however, out for a walk on a lead, i know exactly where it's done its deposit lol!”

If you don' have any outside space for a dog, and can only commit to two 20 minute walks a day, I don't think you should get a dog.

the two twenty minute walks are what i would manage, have not asked other half what he would manage, as we havent quite got that far in our discussions. speaking for him briefly (not that that happens often .... ) he could do a quick jaunt round the block for a toilet walk at about half 7, then the kids and i could do a ten min walk in the morning before nursery. once the big one is in nursery, i would do another 20 mins with the buggy at about 1. he gets in at about twenty to 4, and could do a round the block again before i go to work, then ten mins with the kids after tea. when i get in at half ten, either of us could do a twenty minute walk before bed. then at weekends we're both off and could go out for big walks and runs around the grassy area thats just beyond our house.
