Lg 42 Pci Dv Screen Problems
Hello, l am the 'proud' owner of an lg pci 42 dv plasma television, however there is a major screen problem that is really begining to iritate me !!
The screen has red or green spots appearing in the bottom left of the picture and also showing in patches on the main picture area as well. The screen seems to be struggling after a dark scene to a lighter one and there is a residue of red spots in the area that was dark. Sorry if this post is not very clear its difficult to put the problem into words. This problem occurs when connected to a sky HD BOX (by either HDMI or component ) a PS3 and a dvd player by HDMI, and even shows up on normal analogue pictures. Can someone help with any advice as the set is out of warranty and its going to be an uphill struggle to convince the wife we need to buy another set. ![]() thanks Barry |

Get in touch with LG, this sounds like a common problem - it's caused by 'wear' on the PDP (Plasma Display Panel) - and is a design flaw. Apparently LG either reprogram one of the existing boards, or provide an updated version of the board with the flaw corrected.
As far as I'm aware LG provide this service FOC, as it is a design fault. |

When my LG42px5d Plasma was approaching a year old it developed red sparkles which where more noticeable on black scenes, when I reported it to currys they new the problem & came out straight away, they replace a small board inside the TV & its been fine every since.
So yes LG will be aware of this problem & should fix it with out any problems I hope. |

Thanks to you both for your quick answers to my question. l will indeed get in touch with LG and see what happens.
One thing Nigel l know from reading some of your post's that you are extremely knowledgable regarding these matters so my question is, if LG refuse to do anything is it a job a TV repair shop would be able to do for me and more important is it an expensive job? Once again thank you. Barry |

Sorry I didn't see the part of your post that said its out of warranty, but as Nigel said it is a design flaw so I hope they still repair it they should.
Good luck |
