Cat with bumpy spine
twingle

I was just stroking one of my cats tonight on his back and am in shock - His spine is just a mass of lumps. I am sure they were not there last week. I have just checked my other cat who has a lovely smooth back. The lumps don't seem to be bothering him but anyone any ideas what they could be. I will take him to the vet asap

It's not just the lumps and bumps of his vertebrae that you can feel? They are more noticable on some cats than others, for example if this cat is slimmer than your other one?

Is it a flea allergy? One of my cats has this at certain times. She has a line of lumps along her spine.

My old cat had a long line of bumps down his spine. He seemed to cope fine though had a bit of a strange gait (would throw one leg out when he walked). We took him for an x-ray and it turned out he had 8 air rifle pellets down his back. Turned out the crotchedy old next door neighbour used to sit in his conservatory and take pot shots at him....B...stard!!

And how on earth did you manage not to go round there and shove his pellet gun up his bum???

One of my cats has a curved spine, but I would imagine it's probably not anything like that, as it was there from birth and due to her breed. Hope everything is ok but it's worth checking anyway!

We didn't find out until after the old man died. If I had have found out beforehand I would have turned the rifle on him!
