I agree with that. I have heard of several dog-owners that had success with giving pineapple.

Well thanks for all your replies. I'm beginning to think my mut/lab is actually quite normal after reading.

At the end of the day I guess dogs are just scavengers and anything that's remotely edible is a target.

My puppy did that a few months ago, it can be behavioral or nutritional, apparently putting some pineapple juice into his dinner will make it taste discusting to the dog. My dog oddly stopped after we found out he had epilepsy and he had to go on certain pills, dont know whether that had anything to do with it

One of mine does this, it's revolting. But more worryingly both of them are partial to human poo which is increasingly common in the parks I walk them in. They'll smell it from a couple of hundred yards away and are off like rockets ignoring my calls and threats. What's particulary worrying about human poo is that you don't know if that person has ingested large quantities of anything paracetamol based - paracetamol being poisonous to dogs.

My dog used to love a poo feast. We tried to make him see the errors of his ways but he never learnt. It was a revolting and highly embarrassing habit.

Made absolutely no difference to my mutt, pineapple flavoured poo was obviously to her liking! You can get tablets from pets at home that are supposed to stop them doing it but that didn't work either.
Now I just console myself with the fact that however disgusting it might seem to us, it is actually quite normal behaviour. I try to clear up before she gets to it, and the times when she manages to get herself a snack I just don't let her kiss me!

Lots of homeless people in London. And given that I've seen a few eating stuff they've found in dustbins and ingesting anything containing alcohol/drugs to make their miserable existance that bit more bearable just for a little while - yes, weird shit.

The majority of us are so lucky.

You're lucky you weren't there! My son found it hysterically amusing, while it was all I could do to get the dog home without throwing up! Wouldn't let him come near me for weeks, lol

Never let a dog lick your face, you really don't know what it's been up to

Some rats do the same thing. I've had pet rats that have done it, others that haven't. I agree, it's pretty disgusting, but apparently natural.

But if you want to hear about something REALLY disgusting, read up on how koala bears feed their young...........

Guinea pigs and rabbits do this - and it is part of their food chain.

I used a catapult ( paper pellets) when my dog did this . It did not take her long to associate eating poo resulted in a sting on the arse.
