Just a wee bit of info based on personal experience.
Do you have a cat thats a "side pee-er"?
We do. She never used to be that way, but had her leg in a bandage for a couple of weeks a few years back. When the bandage was on, she couldn't really squat so she got into the habit of peeing standing up straight. Once the bandage came off, she kept the high peeing habit.
So we got her an enclosed litter tray to counter this. As we quickly discovered when she started it, with an open tray, she just pee'd straight over the side.
Nice.
We then discovered that 95% of the enclosed litter trays out there are NOT watertight if your cat pees on the back or sides of it. The pee runs down, gets into the seam, and leaks out. For years we made do with a ferplast one:
http://www.ferplast.com/peteng/produ...5/Default.aspx
... which they sell in Pet Smart/Pets at Home etc.
This one is not bad. About 80% effective maybe? Most weeks it would be OK but sometimes it would seep through and there would be a lake of piss built up under the tray. (We did - and still do - keep the tray on an off-cut of lino with plastic underneath so it was contained!)
Not ideal.
But we couldn't find anything better. All the other ones I looked at in stores were obviously much worse with pretty badly designed seams.
I eventually found this one:

... and gave it a try.
And I'm pleased to say that their 100% leakproof claim is totally justified.
Not a drop has escaped it since we switched.
Just thought I'd post this up in case anyone else has ever had trouble with a leaky litter tray.
