This is Derek, one of our two kittens watching Autumnwatch.

His brother isn't into TV and Derek probably watches more TV than me. He likes nature programmes and Top Gear

Anyone else got a cat that watches TV?

I had a cat that used to watch snooker. He would sit up by the telly and if he saw a ball move he'd try to bat it with his paw.

Not tried him on Snooker yet...I think it's the movement that attracts them. Derek is the first cat that I've come across that has any interest in TV.

Snooker next

Discovery channel HD have a sunrise scene for an hours every weekday from 9am. This week, our dog found the Byson grazing partially interesting and had to be rescued from the shelf behind the TV!

Mine like watching Meerkat Manor, any painting programme (chasing the brush) and sometimes I put on a DVD of them when they are kittens - it hilarious watching them as they try to work out why their brother/sister is on the tv. They follow the cats off the screen too and go behind the tv to see where they've gone.

I don't have a cat but if I did he'd probably watch CNBC with me! He'd probably be trying to follow the scrolling stock ticker at the bottom of the screen!

I've never had a cat before that watches TV. Derek watches the action and you can see by his movement that he is watching what's going on. The clip is far from brilliant quality.

He parks himself down when nature programmes are on and isn't interested in anything else apart from Top Gear. It will be interesting to try him with Snooker though

My cat is 4 years old and only started watching TV this year - I was watching Paralympic swimming and he was fascinated by it, he now watches F1 and kids programme Lazy Town

It's strange how selective they can be! Derek isn't interested in news, documentaries or anything to do with people, but Autumnwatch or anything with animals, he's straight in front of the TV! Neither of the other two (Clive and Elwood) are bothered.

One of my cats used to watch snooker, but she's not bothered anymore. She used to do the looking behind the tv for the balls thing

The other just likes to sit on top of the tv if she thinks it's getting more attention than her Although occasionally if it's football, she tries to bat the players with her paws

My old cat loved watching snooker too, but only when Steve Davis was playing. I think she must have had a thing for him. She would sit there transfixed!! Lol

She also loved watching BB4 whenever Scott was on screen

The cats aren't interested in TV, but one of the dogs, Hansel, is transfixed if there is anything with dogs on. I put 'Dog Borstal' and 'The Dog Whisperer' on for him and tell him if he doesn't behave I'll let those b'tards loose on him

Our last cat got into a rather unfortunate habit of crapping behind the telly when she got old. It was a nightmare trying to fudge the poo out of the tangle of cables behind the set!

I am sure that she has now been reincarnated as a TV critic.

Since I got the flat screen tv both of them watch it...not sure if it is clearer to them or something. They tend to watch anything - favourites are animal programmes, the F1 and cartoons. They love cartoons and Shrek!

One of mine sits and watches the football, if its on, he just sits and stares at the screen until half time, pops off to get a drink/food/littertraybusiness then comes back and watches the rest.

The other is usually asleep and so doesn't bother!

I had a cat who would park himself directly in front of the tv, if he saw something that took his fancy.

One of my old cats used to do that

Mittens used to love watching Life Of Birds. She's sit there quite happily for ages to watch it.

Tod isn't bothered by the telly at all.

Paul will watch anything and everything. He rests his head on the stand. I have a pic of him watching Pet Rescue, I'll have to upload it

My little one watching The Simpsons - excuse the mess!!!!

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...Picture646.jpg

She also loves football, Sex And The City and she loves any kind of news channel with the writing that moves along the bottom of the screen - many hours are spent trying to figure out where the 'moving writing' goes
