Vidikron Helios DLP Projector

I have a Helios Vidikron Helios projector and the lamp timer needs resetting I believe...Does anyone know how to do this?
The lamp is actually running but does not project.

Also does anyone know the details of the replacement lamp bulb and / or module plus who can supply this? Thanks

The lamp timer is there to stop the lamp being run past its safe lifetime. Resetting the lamp timer on a used or old lamp is not a good idea. There is a risk that the lamp will explode!

If your manual doesn't cover resetting the lamp timer then it is likely that the projector does this automatically when a new lamp is installed. Don't bother looking for a 'secret switch'. It's unlikely to be something that dumb. I know other brands that measure the strike voltage - it's lower on a new lamp and gets higher as the lamp ages.

Hotlamps, Justlamps, ivojo, these are just three lamp suppliers I can think of from the top of my head. Google is your friend.

The cost of a new lamp is probably beyond the cost a of new projector (typ £250 or less for a good SVGA DLP) so running the lamp until it may explode seems a good idea to me!

I have had a quick search and Vidikron went bust and were bought by Runco, but they don't support any model made before 2003. Not even user manuals.

I think the Helios is an old projector so perhaps pre-2003.

Service for pre-2003 is done by a company called http://www.hirezservice.com/

but there are no manuals online there either. Maybe a grovelling email to hirezservice may have them respond, who knows?
