I don't think it's going to happen. Last year's When Joseph Met Maria show was filmed on Dec 3rd and word got out about it a while before then (and it hit the media a few weeks before). There has been nothing said this time - and I would have thought that if something was in the offing, we'd have heard about it by now.

They were hardly going to do a special after Jodie won. This time last year Lee had an album out, don't see Jodie doing that either. ALW might have just turned 60 but he acts like a 12 year old.

Given that Oliver! won't have opened (or even started previewing) by the time they'd be filming a When Joseph Met Nancy show, it would seem a bit odd - they couldn't talk about Jodie's successful run as Nancy because she hasn't had one yet! Both Connie and Lee had proven themselves in their 'winning' roles by the time they did When Maria Met Joseph.
I don't see why the knives are still out for ALW et al re: Jodie. She won the competition and the role. Now the ball is in her court and she has to prove herself in the 'real world'. Both Connie and Lee had to do that - neither of them was given an easy ride, or handed opportunities on a plate. Nor should Jodie. She needs to prove that she's a worthy winner of IDA and put the work in before she gets any credit for it - and rightly so! Any other performer would have to do that - why not her? Re: an album - I have no idea why she hasn't done one (of the three winners so far, she's had the most time to do one). Perhaps she was offered the chance to record one but chose to take her time with it, rather than going for a quick release? From a marketing perspective, it would make sense to release one while she's performing in Oliver! and, as a result, is in the public eye. |

Also I don't remember the other Joseph's fans being so harsh with Lee. I've seen Jodie criticised on both Rachel and Sarah's blogs saying that their favourite should be playing Nancy. Some of Sarah's fans have even said they hope Jodie is ill so they can see Sarah. Jodie seems to have to fight harder for all the recognition she gets, far more than Connie or Lee ever did. |

Jodie hasn't been criticised, if we ever say we wish her ill we are only joking because Sarah is our favourite not because we actually want her to be ill and I have never criticised Jodie on my blog. Deary me.

ALW didn't publicly come out and support Helena or Keith for Maria or Joseph, that's the difference. Jodie has had to prove that ALW and CM were wrong on top of having to prove to the public they were right to pick her.

As a Lee fan, I recall him getting lots of criticism from other Josephs' fans during ADWD. Connie also did (and continues to do so). It's what happens with these competitions. It's not always fair, but Jodie certainly didn't get any worse treatment than Lee and Connie as far as I can remember. I watched both HDYSAPLM and ADWD prior to IDA, so already knew what to expect on DS and other forums. To be honest, I don't think the IDA threads have been particularly bad. What I will also say is that you can't expect people on other threads to be complementary about your favourite Maria/Joseph/Nancy. It just doesn't work that way! As for having to win CM and ALW over, I think you'll find that both Connie and Lee had to prove themselves to ALW and his fellow big-wigs. Jodie has to do the same. That's part and parcel of the entertainment business - it's what you have to do when you get your first leading role, especially when you get it via a TV casting show rather than the conventional route! I don't think Jodie has it any tougher than Lee and Connie did - the only added pressure on her is that Lee and Connie were both outstanding in their roles and have had incredibly successful runs (Lee's ends in January). Jodie has to live up to that. |

At the end of the day, ALW and CM are putting their reputations (and a considerable amount of money) on the line with Oliver! (as they did with SOM and Joseph), therefore that gives them a right to voice their opinions. They were asked who they thought was Nancy and said so (perhaps it wasn't the wisest move, but they were asked and responded and they had a right to do so).

Jodie has to live up to that. I think there was a lot of snobbery that Lee and Connie didn't get because of the way the had learnt their trade, as opposed to Jodie who has come up through cabaret and stand up. Of course she has to prove herself, and on the basis of last night she was the right choice. |

It's not like we wished her dead or anything dramatic like that

Omg its a joke, hoping Jodie is ill when we go to see Oliver so Sarah is on..its a joke, You need to learn how to take a little joke - honestly what actually is your problem?!
I mean im still going to see Jodie in Oliver and im sure she will be brilliant. It's not easy to explain but there seems to be an attitude that Jodie didn't win on ability, it's like what she said in the final, she thought they only put her there because she's 'jokey Jodie' and that seems to seep into people thoughts about her. That and her background in entertainment, not coming through theatre or being trained the way Lee or Connie were, and she wasn't among the 'professionals' IDA like Fran, Rachel and Sarah. |
