...and nothing else. Her footwork is not that good, but she hypnotises people by her poise into thinking she is actually better than she is. Her waltz deserved 4 8's, not 4 9's, so she gets overmarked for great poise.

well in my opinion Austin was also over marked so that makes more than one tonight

Don't worry she'll come unstuck on a latin in a week or two and we can be rid of her

I thought Craig really undermarked him, I really enjoyed it. I think 2 7s and 2 8s would have been fair for Austin. Personally, I would have given him a 9 but understood why the judges wouldn't.

And I agree with OP, she looks so elegant from the waist up, but her footwork is not great.

Knew as soon as she started the 'she is overmarked' peeps would be out!

I thought they were all marked well, except for Craig and his 3 for Jodie and a low one for someone else(?)

I thought Cherie's dance was beautiful. Len picked up on something so she was marked accordingly IMHO. Fabulous!!

Cherie was good tonight. That's all. Not brilliant and to me 9 = brilliant! Nowhere near as good as Lisa or (I hate to say) Tom!

Craig's 5 for Austin was a bit stupid, and his 3 for Jodie, well, he lost the plot there.

Cherie does get overmarked, yes, but she'll be found out again with her Latin and ultimately won't survive.

Yes I would tend to agree with what has been said, Cherie has shown that she will struggle with the faster Latin dances and the judges always mention her poise and elegance...I did enjoy her waltz tonight but hopefully a jive is coming next.

Agree with most on Cherie - shes been consistently overmarked. None of the judges wants to be accused of ageism yet its ok for them to pull out the "young card" remember comments bout Louisa Lytton - shes done really well, only young, and similar for Matt. Why do none of them come out and say shes crap at Latin coz shes old! Lisa and Brendan were stunning tonight, and loved Toma and Camilla.

It gets me a bit that every single week people complain Cherie was overmarked but she is certainly not the only one . However, she is the only one who gets constant threads about it.

Tonight Lisa had equal poise to Cherie but much better footwork, so for them both to get 9's seemed like overmarking of Cherie.

As a Cherie fan I'm also hoping she will get a jive next so as to settle these arguments once and for all.

Poise and body shape are an important aspect of the waltz and so it is right that it counts highly with the judges. Cherie had good head movement and body frame. I think Len was saying that he would have given her a 10 if she'd got those heel leads right. Tom got 9s the other week when he also missed heel leads, and Cherie was much more receptive to the criticism.

Having said that, I do think heel leads are quite an important aspect of the waltz and judges do tend to go a bit easy on all the contestants when it comes down to the finer aspects of footwork (e.g. other dancers have got high scores despite not closing their feet properly). I guess they go a bit easy on some of these points due to the limited time the celebs have to learn the dance.

I'd have liked to have heard more about what they thought of Lisa's dance and why it was a 9 (it looked good). It's almost as if the judges ran out of time to make comments.

I disagree, I thought her marks were deserved. If she had been given 10's then she would have been overmarked.

Lisa had a slight stumble and also lost her balance near the end in one of the spins- however I loved Lisa and Cherie today and felt they were equally as good.

Tom also had a few issues with his footwork again but there are no cries of him being overmarked- if people are going to complain that an imperfect dance gets 9's then that needs to be applied universally.

I was surprised by the marks (which as often seemed inconsistent with the REmarks) and that was before Lisa danced! Cherie's waltz was OK - nothing obvious wrong, very pretty but IMO less good than Jodie last week which had a really strong feel and where there were no technical adverse comments, Doubtless someone will be able to quote Jodie's waltz marks but I am pretty sure it was much less than 36.

I am NOT constantly on these threads knocking Cherie but there is little doubt that she had THREE dodgy weeks before this and this week was OK but not necessarily worthy of the triumphal procession of remarks from the judges.

I thought Cherie was fantastic tonight, and deserved a few 10's not just 9's,,and what about the slip in Austin's rhumba,,,no one mentioned it,,that makes me mad,,if he fell on his backside no one would slate him for it.

I don't think the judges go through all the technical remarks that they have about each dance. They are limited by time. As I said, I certainly don't think they had much time to comment on Lisa's dance.

I guess we all form general impressions and have our favourite dancers (which is why there is an audience vote), but only people who are expert in the dances are in a position to comment on the marks from a technical aspect. I have had training in dancing the waltz (amongst other ballroom) and so understand some of the technical aspects. I wouldn't feel qualified to mark the dancers though.

I'm inclined to agree with you OP.

Cherie left me wanting tonight. I wasn't swept away with her Waltz for some reason. I felt the same way about her Foxtrot come to think of it. Maybe it was the choice of music?

Her Rhumba was unforgettable, but other than that, I've not been bowled over by Cherie I'm afraid I just feel very indifferent about the lady. And I feel I'd be patronising her by saying how well she's doing given her age....

I hope she can prove her critics wrong and master a fast Latin routine though
