Anyone with LG TV experience?

Hi,

I was hoping some people out there might have some experience with LG TVs.

I have an LG DVD player, that has proved to be fantastic... but is let down by a poor Toshiba 21" 4:3 TV.

I was looking at replicatiing my success with the DVD player, by getting an LG TV too (not that having the same brand makes any difference of course!).

If anyone can comment on quality, sound, etc. I haven't been able to compare any in the shops as yet.

Cheers.

PS. As a side note, what is the effect when viewing 4:3 pictures on a 16:9 set? Stupid I know, but I've never seen it.

we had a LG portable tv , it had good quality picture and sound, but the controller was rubbish, broke really easily,
bottom line is them seem to be good value for your
£££, (we alos have an LG vcr), and never had any problems with it.

Some LG TV's are made by Beko and the remainder by LG themselves.

Beko make the RI-28CZ10RX and is sister 32” version both 50 Hz. I have the 32" version the sound is crap, but that is not an issue for me as I wanted as small as possible speakers grilles (I don’t use the speakers) as I use the TV as a monitor and route my various sound sources (Sky, non Sky digital satellite, Freeview, analogue satellite, TiVo, DVD and Hi-Fi VCR) through my Hi-Fi system. Regarding the rest of the LG large screen range, they are either 4:3, why in this day and age? Or 16:9 100 Hz. Personally I can’t stand 100 Hz processing on any brand, but that’s my personal opinion. In other words avoid any manufactures 100 Hz and maybe go for the Beko manufactured sets if either you can put up with the poor sound or do as I do use a Hi-Fi system.

Answer to your last question, black bands down both sides of the picture.

I have owned and operated an LG television for a few years now and it is excellent. The one I own is a widescreen with Nicam Stereo. The only problem that I noticed is that the remote control is a bit crappy and packs up after a few months, but the picture quality and sound on the TV is excellent! I would definately recommend LG to anyone who wants an excellent quality product at a good price.
