Mariah Carey songs - the most boring EVER!!!!
I dunno about anyone else, but i was almost bored to death by those terrible Mariah Carey songs they all sang last night. What a Borefest!:yawn::yawn:
I thought someone may have done one of her livelier uptempo numbers, but no such luck. I'd have been better off going out last night and recording it! At least then, i could have fast forwarded half of it.

I'm not a fan either - but she is one of the most popular artisist in the world, so I'll just accept that I am one of he odd-ones out in finding her music dull, repetative and out- dated.

We were saying this too. We can't stand female warblers, Mariah, Celine, Leona, Whitney etc
At least Celine and Whitney choose some better songs to ruin. Mariah's are just dire. There were only 2 memorable songs last night, and they were previously sung by other artists. Who DOES buy her CDs though? - I don't no anyone who will admit to liking her! |

Last night's show was possibly one of the worst X Factor show's I've ever seen. The other one that comes to mind was the Leona/Ray/Ben semi-final!

And last night show was definitly one of the most boring nights on xfactor. Hopefully the themes will get better - well they cant get worse, can they? |

just dull music. i wish they'd up the tempo a bit, maybe use a real life band and some edgier numbers. time and time again the british public have chosen the wrong 'artist' that just has no real ablitiy, versatility or a bit of classic rock and roll personality, but when theyre given this sort of crap to sing we never get to find out who the real stars are because theyre molded and pulped into some lacklustre dullard by these songs that theyre not suited to.

It sounded like lift muzak to me apart from the Harry Nilsson song.

and when they performed Hero with her, it was so obvious who had the most control over how that performance would go. Mariah..pfft, she sang badly and the others were her backing singers...and they didn't have a microphone either, and i remember seeing one on their tops either (you know the little ones that presenter's have..) she's so controlling and full of herself. Not endearing at all.

have to agree here, I have never liked MC, never bought one of her records and think she is pretty dull, musically and personally. I don't think any body I know likes her, not even my mum LOL.
Her live version of Hero was pretty terrible. I wasn't looking forward to this week's show, I knew it was going to be terrible. Alex was good, it was a shame for Laura, she probably shouldn't have tried to play and sing. I hope they get rid of Daniel or Eggnog next week. Next week should be a much better week. |

Never understood the fuss about Mariah really...great vocals but her songs are meh and so is her look IMO.

I think the best theme was the Big Band as the songs were brilliant. I'm a fan of MJ but the song choices were dire as were the songs for Mariah. They seemed to be covers. She has done some uptempo songs (Emotions/Always be my baby etc).
For me the song choices have been generally out of touch (this series). |

I completely agree. I don't find Mariah songs remotely interesting. Bring on more interesting weeks!

I think they just picked really shit songs out of the selection. She has had some very good songs. I don't know why one of the girls didn't do Emotions. They didn't represent Mariah at all. They made her seem lame but she isn't.

And the worst thing was that some of the singers who had been keeping warbling tendencies at bay so far in the series suddenly thought it was acceptable to warbole.
Hope they've calmed down by next week. |

I agree with Official Diva. It might have worked a bit better if the actual song choices were less blah.
Fantasy, Emotions, Dreamlover, even Heartbreaker wouldn't have gone amiss. Songs that people actually remember or associate with Mariah. |

They should just quit with the themes. It doesn't suit Diana or Alexandra at all. They are coping well, but Diana and Alexandra should be singing more of the style they were in the auditions and boot camp. Disco and Michael Jackson week? It is almost like they are trying to make the contestants sound bad.

She was unfairly represented last night
There are songs that are literally 100x better, and that are actually her own! The judges, as usual couldn't be bothered to look for better songs, and they just went with the boring ballads! |

I thought EoM and E=MC2 were almost up to Butterfly and Charmbracelet standard. Glitter still rates as one of the worst though. We all have different tastes. I happen to like Mariah. I'm sure a lot of the artists people like on this thread would have no appeal to me, but hey, that's lucky for all of us that there can be diversity in music. |

Themes like Number One Singles, Best Of British etc are a good compromise. They allow the contestants to sing something that's in their style without being too safe. |

Her best song is All I want for Christmas, and even though it's not Christmas yet, they missed a chance not covering that as it's up tempo and energetic.
