We're all getting mixed up here.
Apologies for not coming back and correcting this.
Carvell asked this same question on another forum where i provided the same answer... where I corrected my error but omitted to do it here.
I was confusing it with TV control invoked Pause Live TV systems.
However, Timeslip is a completely different function for navigating specific amounts of time through recordings on the HDD and unfinalised discs [ and VRmode + discs]
[Press timeslip and use the North/ south buttons of the nav wheel to input a time which increments in 1 min per push or 10 mins if you press and hold ... then press ok ]
Pause live TV is invoked by pushing pause for a couple of seconds.
As you say, it does use the DVDR's tuner.
