I was transferring some things from the HDD onto DVD yesterday with my Sony RDR-HX725 and after going through the finalising routine, I got an error message saying something like "Cannot finalise this disk. Check the condition of the disk."

It was a new disk from a spindle of Philips DVD-Rs which I've used loads of before without any problems. I thought maybe it was a faulty disk so I did the same transfer again with another disk from the same packet and got the same error message. So then I did it again with a different type of disk, a TDK DVD+R and got the same message again.

But the strange thing is that I then tried them in another DVD player (Philips) and they all played fine. So should I take any notice of this error message?

Switch it off at the mains,and see whether the message disappears.

Thank you for the advice. That seems to have fixed it. All OK now.
