Arthritis in Cats

Has anyone got any suggestions what I can go for my cat? Last year I noticed that when he woke up and began to walk his leg was stiff but ok once he had moved around a bit. A little while later he hurt his leg and I took him to several vets only finding the last one was of any help.

They said it looked like he had landed and hurt his leg but it was ok, however the xrays showed he was starting to get arthritis in his left knee joint. They gave him injections but didnt offer any suggestions for long term help for him.

Ive noticed now that the weather is damp and cold that he is getting the stiff leg again. If I rub his leg before he stands up it seems to ease it but I dont want him jumping down again and hurting himself because it is numb.

Any suggestions as to something I could give him to help with ease the arthritis??

Cosequin is good stuff, I've always used it on arthritic dogs with great results. There is a cat version as well but I can't personally vouch for how effective it is. It's in capsule form so you can split the capsule and sprinkle it on food, but I know a lot of cats won't fall for that one...

I got cosequin for my cat but she wont eat the food with it on. It says you can give it as a tablet but its huge lol.
I now use synoquin which is a 'palatable' tablet. Most days she will just eat it others she decides not to bother so my other cat eats it.
I get it from vetuk.com as they see to be the cheapest place

Thank you for your help! I shall definitely get some of each of those and see which one is the most effective

I use vetuk as well, reasonable prices and reliable on delivery. I've never had a problem getting my dogs to take cosequin but did wonder if it might be a problem for cats. One of my cats just takes pills and eats them, you don't even have to bother hiding them. With my other 4 cats I suspect my arms would end up looking like a botched suicide attempt if I tried to get them to take tablets!
Gavin already has an ASBO for being a bad boy last time I took him to the vets. They even made a note on his record for future reference. He's tarnished the family reputation.... lol
