Did anyone see Michael Lynche's version of This Woman's Work on American Idol tonight? It reduced one of the judges to tears and Simon Cowell said it was the best performance he had heard on the show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSo_1-i6low I thought he ruined it, and the judges esp Kara completely over hyped the performence. Like it should be sung subtly not as OTT as Michael did it. Give me Kates version any day!! ![]()

Nothing like trying to find something in-between the lines where there may be nothing for us Kate fans eh?! We don't get much to play with do we, so the following could be just plain wishful thinking on my part! Anyway, first thing was that on the KB forum, rblazon posted this yesterday concerning the Radio One chat (Rob Da Bank is a Radio One DJ, Murdoc is Gorillaz bass player and they were discussing Gorillaz A to Z, guess who K was?). Could this mean that Kate has recently bought back the copyright to her early albums from EMI? Then Lucas posted this on KB forum today in an unrelated thread: Quote:

From usatoday.com US idol track sale stats ...but none of those came close to the percentage jumps caused by Michael Lynche covering This Woman's Work. Maxwell's version of the song re-entered the chart with a 1,005 percent increase in downloads, and Kate Bush's original got in on the action, too, selling nearly 9,000 copies.

my student son has wuthering heights as a ringtone.
He was uber shocked when I told him, that I not only loved this song and had the single, but also had the hairstyle! I am now soooo very cool! Amazing how tunes come round again! Good music is timeless though X |

I don't like it myself - the campaign is pointless. The record companies should be out discovering and promoting new artists, rather than worrying about file sharing. completely agree, i've probably spent many hundreds of pounds on new and official kate music and merchandise over the years and several hundred more on used and collectables.....i'm sure kate wouldn't care if i downloaded (for free) say a copy of lyra as oppossed to going out and buying the official soundtrack to the film!

Its was Liverpool Empire Theatre that Kate Bush officially commenced her one and only tour....The Tour of Life in 1979. I wish I was old enough to have seen this tour, as it was groundbreaking and very innovative. I don't unnderstand why her concerts have never been released on DVD Kate Bush is a national treasure. She sells millions of albums worldwide and has done so the past 20 years without any self publicity. A true talent, with a classic back catalogue that simply knocks spots off Madonna ; Gaga & the likes. |

Hello Earth remains to this day my favourite Kate Bush song. I only really started listening to her in 2005, though became aware of her stuff around 2003 after The Futureheads covered 'Hounds of Love'.

It's so beautiful, I'm sure I must have shed a tear or two at it, and I don't cry much, at anything really.Because I feel bored I shall list my favourite to least favourite of her albums, starting with my most favourite... 1. Hounds of Love - it's an incredibly hard choice and regulaly switches places with the next four. 2. The Dreaming - crazy, indiosyncratic, thought-provoking... just all together amazing and although I didn't take to it very well at first I do love it now. 3. Aerial - I have to be in the mood for this one, but it is a fantastic listen. 4. Never Forever - The first 'experimental' album she did, I think it's underrated; love All We Ever Look For, The Wedding List, The Infant Kiss and the singles. 5. The Kick Inside - My first Kate album, fantastic debut. 6. The Red Shoes - I don't see why this gets the negativity it does to be honest, it's not her best but I don't think her weakest effort. 7. The Sensual World - I try so hard to get into this album... the title track, Love and Anger and This Woman's Work are breathtaking, but everything else seems hard for me to get. 8. Lionheart - It's a bit forgettable, though I suppose Wow and Hammer Horror are decent, the rest are just a bit 'meh' in my opinion. Pleasant listen but very forgettable. So there you go, I feel better now after reviewing my Kate Bush taste.

My girlfriend bought me that, and I must say that it veers between insightful comment, and pushing the author's gay agenda. I gave up when the book seemed to peter out, and did not include discussion of my favourite track from 'The Dreaming' or any mention of the remixes and more obscure Kate Bush works.

So there you go, I feel better now after reviewing my Kate Bush taste. ![]() I'm killing time before I start work but this seems a good way of killing ten minutes... 1. Never Forever - one of my favourite KB albums, it has the shrill energy of the previous albums but you have that development and maturity. 2. The Sensual World - totally idiosyncratic, like something from another world. The combination of pop/rock and Bulgarian folk music - it shouldn't work but it does. A captivating album. 3. The Kick Inside - a great album with some amazing tracks, perhaps one of the greatest début albums ever. 4. Lionheart - whilst not as epic as her début, there are still some great songs on there, some I love more than on TKI. And it does feel consistent, though somewhat restrained. 5. The Dreaming - I should love this album more than I do but it's definitely one I have to be in the mood for. Yep, a great, challenging album with some great songs but it's a demanding album. 6. Hounds of Love - everyone's favourite KB album, only not mine. Whilst admittedly it contains some of her greatest work, it doesn't particularly flow well for me as an album, though I'm aware that it is really 2 separate albums. I have a problem with The Ninth Wave, not because I find it particularly challenging (which I don't actually) but because she seems to be almost be become the Kate Bush parody - the whimsical, mystical, fairy loving Earth mother. There's a few tracks on there that make me wince a bit. 7. Ariel - I didn't care much for it. Some of the songs on there really do step into the whimsical, mystical, fairy loving Earth mother category - and yes, I do wince - Rolf Harris was always more interesting when he kept his mouth shut IMO. But Ariel wasn't a complete failure, the triptych of tracks at the end of the album is remarkable, right up there with some of her best stuff IMO. 8. The Red Shoes - god, an awful album. Ok, not an awful album as such but an awful KB album. It just sounds so dated and it did the minute it came out. Yes, there are some great tracks on there but for every decent track we have 2 duff ones. And it just felt so over produced. Gotta say though me favourite KB album (though not an album as such) has to be This Woman's Work Vol. 1. Whilst the B-sides aren't as polished as her singles from that era, there's something great about them, perhaps because they're not as polished, almost like crystallised thoughts. Well....time to start work.

Addictive TV take Wuthering Heights apart, sample it and put it back together in a totally different way. This was filmed at the HMV Forum in London on April 10th 2010.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAYNny00iPYAlways good to see people playing with Kate, but this is a bit of a throwaway me thinks. Some might appreciate it more than I do tho'... |
