Ooh that's so cool! Do you see her in the supermarket? If you do right, and you see her at the fruit section, go up beside her and start singing "take a papaya, you like a guava? Grab a banana and a sultana. Rip them to pieces with sticky fingers. Split the banana, crush the sultana."

happy new year to everyone who browses this thread

Kate kept me entranced throughout the 80's, and has achieved the nigh impossible (alongside Elizabeth Frazer & Siouxsie) of becoming an almost mythical Garbo-like figure whose consistently made highly original music, which is pop-but not-at the same time. It was so satisfying to see (the amazing) Aerial album sell so well with virtually no publicity & no tour (and no tits out!).
Just goes to show, that in the end - good old musicality can STILL win in this throwaway world!YAY!
Love all her stuff, but a particular shout out to the following:
The Sensual World - Always an underrated album of hers, but IMO her opus. Never Be Mine still makes the old eyes puffy....
Hounds of Love - (i dont need to say anything....)
Aerial - A Coral Room & Sunset.........swoon..........
The Dreaming - So bleedin complex! But ultimately rewarding and creepy!
When your ready Kate....

The Dreaming has got to be my fav Kate album of all time, probably because of its sheer madness...and get out of my house is certainly in my top 3 songs!
i too love the sensual world album, but then again there is not a kate album i dont like
i have songs that i play repeatedly for days on end...recently it was A Coral Room, after my mums death, and currently it is Delius.
i was in portugal in the summer and heard Big Stripey Lie thumping out of some ones house, about an hour later i walked back the same way and it was still playing

"The smell of burning fields, will now mean you and here." What a brilliant line.

Even better, though, what I regard as the finest work of her career, Ariel, there is -

Sunset -

"Who knows who wrote that song of Summer
That blackbirds sing at dusk
This is a song of colour
Where sands sing in crimson, red and rust
Then climb into bed and turn to dust."

and of course, the magnificent,

Nocturne

"The stars are caught in our hair
The stars are on our fingers
A veil of diamond dust
Just reach up and touch it
The sky's above our heads
The sea's around our legs
In milky, silky water
We swim further and further
We dive down…"

I hope your not advising people to pluck the bush!!

I really do enjoy Kate Bush's work.
Not everything has had an instant appeal but more often than not it it just keeps on giving,

When I was a kid I used to have an argument with one of my friends at school over who was better,
My choice - Kate Bush,
His - ABBA!
Funny how the two are still going in their own way and of course over on facebook the argument still continues to this day.

No wonder Kate Bush is fairly reclusive though - have you ever seen a gathering of Kate Bush fans? All together in one space? pretty obsessive to say the least, scarily so.
They think they know what conditioner she uses in her Mrs Bartolozzi!

Saying that I do sometimes imagine that I would like to make something for her that would give her as much happiness as her music has given me.
(i'm not being smutty either - oh some people have their mind in the gutter )

I hope so! The rumour mills are working overtime already!

and article about those posts here:

It does kind of add up, Del mentioned that he'd been working at Abbey Road at the end of last year (I doubt he was using Abbey Road for his own album?) and he hasn't denied these latest rumours (yet).

and the official networking sites appearing in December:

I know it's part of our yearly ritual as Kate fans! heh But it's nice to believe for a while until we're deflated yet again (or maybe not, as you said, could this be the one?!!).

A belated Happy New Year to you too digit al (and everyone else of course)

Didn't want to start a new thread but thinking of getting a copy of Lionheart but I've heard it is dire- rush released to cash in on her success and one of her worst albums. Is this correct?

All responses welcomed, posted here to get fan's opinion

I thought exactly the same!

but actually it is a good overall album! while The Kick Inside is very superior there are some great songs and HAMMER HORROR! which is a cult favourite!

Kashka From Baghdad is brilliant as is Symphony In Blue!

overall i'd say 4 out of 5.

I however dont have Red Shoes yet! but will get it soon for certain

Thanks for the reply... puts me in a better frame of mind about buying it

Of course should it be really bad then I shall personally blame you and will be putting in a complaint to the DS management

Put it this way, you can listen to samples on amazon.co.uk, and also on you tube you can search for the songs.

Most Kate Bush songs are on You Tube

Also, if you love The Kick Inside you'll like this one!

Sunset is my favourite of Kates, along with A Coral Room
Shes such an evocative wordsmith.

Love The Kick Inside but unlike Hounds Of Love I can't listen to it without hearing the Not The Nine O'Clock spoof in my head
