Runnin' Up That Hill and Hounds Of Love are two of the greatest tracks of all time.

The Dreaming is my personal favourite and I fully agree and comply with the sleeve note comment -

"This music is made to be played loud"

I used to think this but now and again I will dip into Sea Of Honey for one track or other and love every moment of it.

A Sky Of Honey for me is a serious follow up to Hounds Of Love,
A Sea is a collection of songs that stand up independently

Love them both now but for different reasons.

I'm a little bit wary I must admit, I love TSW as it is - In Kate we trust tho' I guess!

Awesome that Kate is re-visiting The Red Shoes tho', sorting out that anomaly (imo) hopefully!

Changing the subject, here's a great number from The Dreaming:

Oh yeah, register on:

Note that It's .com not .co.uk (if you have the uk url bookmarked delete it), don't know why it hasn't been re-directed yet.

*edit: oldtimer55!

For the money?

Really?”

i doubt Kate has ever done anything for the money....she would be far wealthier now had she been a media whore or thrown in the odd tour over the years.
Kate is on record as saying she felt dissatisfied with the red shoes and certainly the line the cross and the curve....she probably feels she can address this with more years experience. i'm surprised she is looking back at old work but i think we can rest assured we're not going to get a rehash just to bolster her bank balance.

I can't believe Hounds Of Love is DELETED. It's crazy as it's one of her most popular albums amongst fans and you can't buy it new now except for daft prices like £50 from Amazon/Play 3rd part sellers. Second hand copies on CD are cheaper from Ebay etc but I only buy new. Can't see why EMI would delete it but HMV say it's definitely deleted as well as The Red Shoes and The Dreaming.

Googled and others find it incredulous too and want to buy it. Anyone know wher I can get a brand new mint unplayed copy for less than a tenner, normal price?

There's a couple on Ebay.

According to a poster on Haven, the three that aren't available now will be re-issued as 2-cd sets later ths year.

I can't believe this as it was a consistent seller for years. The equivalent would be EMI deleting Dark Side of the Moon.

Kate now owns the rights to HoL outright, so hopefully there'll be a remastered release under her new label 'Fish People' (in conjunction with EMI) later this year, after the Directors Cut album and TSW/TRS remasters.

However, I don't blame her for dismissing The Red Shoes as it was a poor album and she admits it was a hashed job. I still think Never For Ever is her best album and the one where she matured.

I'm especially looking forward to see what she's done with 'Why Should I Love You'.

For comparison, here's Kate's original demo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbP-dapt09Q

...and TRS version after Kate made the best of what she received back from Prince:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Nt5t3sL-kE

There's an email from one of Prince's sound engineers at the time here (think I might have posted it earlier in the thread somewhere, not sure, but a very interesting read for those that haven't read it):

http://gaffa.org/moments/2_2j.html

Read the third email down if you have time, an insight into the world of Prince and his engineer's opinion on what he was doing to the song.

yep, I did in another thread. On the whole they're pretty rubbish, though Hounds of Love video manages to be as enigmatic as the song - IIRC she directed this one herself, other attempts have been less successful though IMO.

Must admit that while I really love most of Kate's music, the vast majority of her videos have been pretty poor. Loved the one for CloudBusting though.

Someone has posted the whole 18 minute 'Ask Aspel' appearance from 1978!

A rarity indeed, the first time It's appeared online in its entirety:

You have to understand that in the late seventies pop videos were fairly basic and they will look poor by today's standards. However, all the videos for the singles from the Hounds of Love were first rate as video technology was more advanced by then.

it was great seeing that clip, though it really makes me wish she'd do more interviews.

have to disagree with you about that one. Although video was in it's infancy, there were quite a few amazing and inventive videos around the late 70's/early 80's. Shame they never really found anyone with any great talent to do Kate's videos and what we often used to end up with was cheap looking, literal translations of her songs.

You have to remember that it's a computer generated voice to fit the songs narrative and it's only a 20 second clip of a 6:32 track.
I was the same as you at first, completely in shock, thinking what the f*ck is this?!! But I'm sure it'll be fine when listened to in context.

I'm kinda encouraged by the fact that Kate can still come out of left field and make me think wtf?
Looking forward to the new album more than ever now.
