Yeah, I'd argue that Daily Mail article is just repeating what's been spread everywhere already. I'm not holding my breath. Worst comes to worst, I've got a new version of RUTH to enjoy Never a bad thing.

After hearing the dreadful remix that had been posted on Youtube, I was dreading this turning out to be something awful.

Needless to say, my worries were baseless.

Just as was the case with the remixed version of "Wuthering Heights", that featured on THS; with its greater emphasis of the guitar solo over the final vocals, Kate has yet again managed to produce a fresh take on one of her works that remains true to the original, whilst adding a new twist to it.

Now to re-cross fingers, toes and anything else I can think of, in the hope that rumour control is correct for once, and the divine Ms Bush will grace the Olympic Closing Ceremony with her prescence

Why isn't RUTH on amazon yet? arghhh. I want to buy it but never buy from itunes because I never buy singles and usually buy physical albums.

didn't think it was going to happen somehow but you never know with KB, especially of late - any thing's possible. maybe she'll jump out of one of those white boxes and give us a raspy rendition of Oh Lionheart - well, I can dream.

Just downloaded the 'remix'. Glad to hear it wasn't 'remixed' (it's pretty much just a 'new vocal', as she used to call it before she got down with the kids). And glad to hear she keep those wonderful fairlight synth sounds intact.

But whilst she can still hit all the notes, for me, it's lacks all the urgency of the original. But no big surprises, I guess her vocals weren't much different then than they are now (other than now they're a bit breathier). Would be nice at some point to hear her tackle some of her more shrill sounding songs (such as Lionheart) in those richer tones.

I think it was removed from Amazon originally as they put it (and a clip) up too early, surprised it hasn't gone back yet tho'.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, but I did, and now I'm so disappointed I also partly feel bitter that most of those that actually did perform had so little talent and couldn't touch Kate. What good I can take from it is that she recorded a new vocal of RUTH and it sounded brilliant, and I'm so thrilled we have a new version to get our hands on.

If it was up to me, and Kate wasn't able to perform, I'd have had a massive tribute to her contribution to the industry and showcase her music to the world.

It would have been amazing if Kate had one of those visual videos like Lennon, Bowie and Mercury had! But the power of RUTH still rings true to my heart and showcased why she is such an Empress Of Art Rock....simply powerful imagery, powerful new vocal on it too! EPIC all round.

Wish she did make it there! but alas....beautiful night!

Indeed they have!The Whole Story is at 14 and Hounds of Love at 138!!! She didn't even perform and she's outselling everyone! I'm so pleased for her.

After watching the ceremony, I think I'd have been more disappointed if she'd have taken part tbh. It all seemed a bit tacky.

The spice gIrls, Jessie j and Kate Bush, it was never going to happen! Thankfully I didn't let myself believe it would so I feel absolutely no disappointment. The RUTH remix is fantastic!

BIB - if you don't mind me asking, how is it fantastic? It doesn't sound much different from the original IMO.

SEE i see the future hehe! So so pleased and looking at the sales i am so chuffed....didnt nee to be there and already in front of a billion people she is being recognised again.

Also chuffed for the sales surge from other performers too in physical form and itunes too of course.

george michael did a brave thing performing White Light as no one knew it tbh apart from fans and some radio 2 airplay of course but that seems to be doing well.

Also really impressed with the Spice girls doing well too....may buy their Hits (finally) with DVD of their vids too.

Which reminds me...why doesnt Kate do a new Hits album with all her videos to date on too? Would be amazing!

I thought that was the point of that RUTH 'remix' - to launch a new GH (with videos) as some have been suggesting, though having watched last night (and the fact that the single was released the same day as the ceremony) I have a feeling that this might just have been a one off project, commissioned for the Olympics.

Oh really?? let hope rumours turn into truth at some point as a compilation of everything would truly be something, make the most of everything!

i'm sure i saw a pre-order placeholder for one for september or october. the whole story was never released on dvd, only vhs and laserdisc, with one edition of the laserdisc having a few bonus videos. she's also had more albums and videos since then so there could easily be a 2 disc set. i think i have about 3 or 4 dvds worth of promo videos alone and then a few more of tv appearances
