BIB - if you don't mind me asking, how is it fantastic? It doesn't sound much different from the original IMO.
Hey Lexie,
I concede it's more a new vocal than a remix but that for me is the appeal.... Glad she wasn't tempted to bastardise it!
I'm loving Kate's older voice and the subtle change in intonation here and there. So, to me, the warmer, breathier tones of Kate's voice now is fantastic!
I doubt we will ever get another violin or wedding list from Kate unfortunately!

I wasn't sure whether I'd missed something, there sounds like there's more going on in the background of the recent version but on my crappy headphones it just sounds a bit muddy and I couldn't quite make it out.

Just listening to the original 12" remix, which is rather splendid.

Indeed they have! The Whole Story is at 14 and Hounds of Love at 138!!! She didn't even perform and she's outselling everyone! I'm so pleased for her.
Great news!

Still gutted that she did not appear though

Yeah it is gutting from a fan perspective, but much like some returning artists the past year (Madonna, Springsteen moreso!) it showcases the power of NAME alone sales, fanbase generation and minimal promo in front of millions which has shown monumental impact!

I really love that although in recent years she has had high charting albums, she has a new lease of life with so many new fans witnessing and hearing her music from that performance alone

Queen Kate is still slaying, climbed upto 4 on iTunes! The only person outselling her from the Olympics is Emeli Sande and she appeared like 4 times. Just shows the power of Kate. Whilst I love and adore the direction she went in with 50 Words For Snow, there's still a tiny part of me that would love to see Kate Bush release a catchy hit single again. This just shows people are still here for her.

I always thought with snow she skipped the pop suite like Hounds of love and A sea of honey and skipped right to the conceptual piece it was a brave move and perhaps one long overdue she has never been one to wholly stick to an idea or concept without softening the blow so maybe next time she will want to have fun again just not The Red Shoes pop whilst i have a new appreciation for it its worthless unless she's going to tour

Having Recently found a new level of love and enjoyment in The Red Shoes I was wondering what everyone else thought it took time to grow and reveal itself like Aerial the rewards whilst not as gleaming its still a surprisingly great album its definitely more pop but it is actually really melancholy and introspective i mean Your The One, And So Is Love prime examples but balanced out nicely by the absurd and brilliant Rubberband Girl and the really refreshing Eat The Music whilst not her strongest body of work maybe one og her lyrically more compelling just needs time and patience.

I really liked it when it was released but the novelty soon wore off after a while and it's an album I seldom revisit. There are a few decent songs on there but overall, It's patchy and suffers from rather dated production.

I'd agree about the production i have the remaster but it sounds no different and its an album that has good and not so good bit but is not an entirely awful album and deserves a little more respect I feel.

Since my daughter first heard Running Up That Hill during the Olympics, she's become a fan of Kate Bush. She watches the video completely agog at her dancing, totally mesmerized. She'd watch her videos on You Tube. She also likes Army Dreamers and Babooshka.

An update on the Homeground book(s)

HomeGround the Kate Bush Magazine – An Anthology 1982-2012 will consist of two hard cover volumes (in a format which is slightly smaller than A4) with approx 600 pages in each volume.

Although HomeGround commenced publishing in 1982, the magazine has contained articles about all periods of Kate’s career, and the book is arranged around a Kate chronology.

Volume One will contain the introductions, Part I (the period from Kate’s early demo recordings to Sat in Your Lap) and Part II (The Dreaming to The Sensual World).
Volume Two will contain Part III (The Red Shoes to 50 Words for Snow). The anthology will be illustrated with artwork and photographs from all periods of HomeGround’s history.

The cost will be about £30 per volume and the books will be available at Amazon and various other outlets. It will certainly be available in the US. We are now working very hard toward having these books ready for release in time for Christmas.

hey guys,
as it's now 1 year (and a day) old i wondered what we thought of 50 words with the distraction of it being a new release out the way.
i love this album and its the only Kate album iv'e listened to in its entirety this year...probably close to a thousand times!!
Misty for me is the stand out track, possibly the best 13 minutes of music to come from any one person ever!
i love its cold, sparsity (for such a warm song) i love its ambiguity and i love its crescendo....like the best orgasm you've ever had, it feels effortless but you know a lot of work has gone in
i love the haunted chill of Lake Tahoe and it's choral feel and i love the bum note at the beginning of Among Angels!
i really love the the emotion between mother and son on Snowflake.
if i'm honest the Elton duet for me is a bit meh but only because it sits with such masterpieces.... it cant compete!
yeah, the album initially took some patience but essentially it is rich and expansive....like snow it draws you in!
Kate gave us Aerial so we could 'see' summer and 50 words does the same for winter!

Hey d.a, yeah, this is the latest from Peter after someone asked a week or two back if it would be ready for Christmas:

"Unfortunately not now looking likely at this point. Turning into a Kate album like saga If not Christmas, should be pretty shortly after!"

Alphan's great radio jingle remix from a few years back:

Jingle will be Magic Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FjmRgzIfkM

Have a good Christmas everyone!
