Saw the concert last night. Still cant quite believe it. I cried more than once, just to hear some of my favourite songs sung live by Kate. The Ninth Wave was a triumph.
I got to reading the programme today, I think it's easy to underestimate how much work goes into something like that. I don't think poor Bertie had time to work on his rhythm

I know the feeling, there's just no way you can explain it really is there? Kinda cool as thread mates that we were both experiencing it at the same time!
![]() ![]() I actually got quite emotional at times, When kate sang the words "all you fishermen, head for home " I must admit I did drop a tear ![]() On a lighter note, I couldn't quite believe how tiny she is. I hope you had the time of your life Zounds and if your anything like me I expect you'd go a happy man if your times up soon

One of the best programmes I've had in quite some time I have to say. Most nowadays are just pictures but i knew Kate would probably put effort into hers. Saw her saturday and it was amazing! Cried at least twice! lol... Was in awe. My other half was a bit critical of The Ninth Wave... I almost dumped him! lol. The ninth Wave was fantastic. And Dream of Sheep was where I got a little teary... The first time!
![]() And Dream of Sheep, that was another cry episode, |

Went on Tues. It was excellent! Can't fault it.
Did anybody get asked for photographic I.D? We didn't. They just scanned the tickets and in we went. |

So nobody was filming/recording? Nobody at all?
........ Nothing pre-1985 either? Everyone there must`ve been assuming Wuthering Heights was a dead cert. What a bizarre decision to omit it. Quote:
Maybe she just can't sing it any more. Her voice has changed.

While listening to the whole back catalogue one last time before the gig tonight (and also avoiding spoilers) I have to say that the remastered, Director's Cut The Red Shoes sounds bloody awful. Had to switch back to the original.
Nothing against the music but everything against the "it's got to sound good on laptop speakers and shitty iPod headphones" mastering we have these days. The original still sounds bloody great though. 19 hours, 10 minutes to go... |

Saw her last night and she was utterly, utterly, brilliant. The best concert I have ever seen .. by a country mile.

I think the original is far better than the reworked version. |

Funnily enough, the reason she did the Director's Cut was because she wasn't happy with what technology was available at the time in terms of getting the sound she wanted. So she revisited those tunes.
I do agree with you though. I prefer the originals - never be mine, in particular. I think the original is far better than the reworked version. I think Lily, Song of Solomon and Moments of Pleasure are brilliant on DC - as are the original versions - but And So Is Love and Never Be Mine are very weak in comparison to the original versions. And the less said about Flower of the Mountain the better. For someone who usually produces such high quality work, Flower is very poor - her vocals are so 'forward' in the mix it almost makes it unlistenable. I'm surprised she even released it. |

According to the link above seats are being jiggled around to make room for the filming of a DVD. I went last week so it will be great to be able to get it on DVD so I can visually remind myself of Kate's awesomeness

I like And So Is Love but still not sure of the lyric changes. Anyway, just 5 days to go until I get to see Kate. Really can't believe it! |

I like most of the Directer's Cut after having a long time to get used to it, but I agree about The Red Shoes. Original version wins every time. I also don't rate the DC versions of Moments of Pleasure (what happened to Bill turning out the lights at the end?

I absolutely hate Flower of the Mountain from DC .. compared to The Sensual World anyway .. all the joy has gone out of it. Still .. it's what Kate wanted to do and I'll take being occasionally disappointed over being bored any day. Hope you have a brilliant time next week .. you will .. it's guaranteed

Perhaps I should clarify that I was talking about the remastered Red Shoes album that came with the Collector's Edition of TDC, not the song on the album itself. It was over-compressed and had far too much bottom end...the kind of thing that sounds impressive on a laptop speakers, a car stereo or ear buds but sounds awful on proper headphones through a proper system. It's a symptom of 21st Century mastering trends unfortunately.
It sounded like when my phone decides to switch on the dreaded Beatsaudio thing...a swift removal of headphones and quick change back to the old one. |

I'm not sure there's any point in ever going to see another concert ever again. That was, quite literally, the most astounding, astonishingly wonderful piece of art I ever had the good fortune to witness.
And to think, when the concerts were first announced, I said she would probably just be sitting at a piano playing some old favourites. |

To drift away from gig discussion briefly, has anyone else pre-ordered the new edition of the Cathy book? I've splashed out even more money on Her Kateness and gone for the Signature Boxed Edition. I have wanted to own a copy of Cathy since I learned of its existence but couldn't justify paying for the scarce few original copies that occassionally pop up on eBay so to have a chance to own a new, beautifully put together special edition was too good to resist. |

No offence meant or anything untoward implied, but on a purely personal level I didn't find what are essentially family photos of a young girl at all appealing. Even though the adult KB is a source of infinite fascination.
I consider myself a collector of Kate related stuff though so this will be a really nice thing to have for someone like me.

I love reading this thread and the one in the main Music forum. I can't go to any of the shows, sadly for me (couldn't afford ticket, travel and accommodation) but just to know that Kate is out there performing live again, and brilliantly, is such a thrill for me. I enjoy reading everyone's reviews as I listen to all my Kate albums. I've been a fan since 1978.
