HELLO

as some of you may be aware, we have a wee pup coming to us tomorrow. we get 6 weeks free insurance through the dogs trust, as thats where he's coming from. what i was looking for was a pointer or 2. im getting quotes from some of the larger companies - direct line, asda, tesco, sainsbury's and pet plan are the one's im filling out just now.

firstly, he's a staffy cross, with what we dont know, but his mum is staffie size, and his dad is full on butch muscular staffie lol. would he come under 'crossbreed medium' or 'crossbreed large'? or is it just down to perception?

secondly, have you had any experience of pet insurance, positive or negative, as i'd be interested to know who to avoid lol!

thanks!

I only know about pet insurance from having cats but the best advice I was given was to make sure that its a lifetime cover. That means that if he ever gets on ongoing illness eg diabetes (or like my cat high blood pressure) they will pay for treatment every year rather than just one year.

Definately agree about lifetime cover, my parents had a dog which had something similar to epilepsy but couldn't be diagnosed and so the insurance wouldn't pay out. They ended up putting her to sleep when she started getting them twice a week, she was only 4.

With our old dog we had ours with Marks and Spencer, they seemed quite good value for money but this was a few years ago now.
