Something Slightly Controversial To Get Off My Chest.....!!!

For those lambasting this weekend's result, how many actually registered a vote for Heather?

If not, do you feel your anger at her dismissal is justified and why were you surprised by her departure?

Were you relying on other viewers to spend their hard-earned cash to vote on your behalf?

And if Heather isn't cheesed off by John's continued presence at her expense, why should we be?

I think you raise a good point. If you don't vote then you lose the right to complain when the results come in. It's like not bothering to vote at an election and then grumbling about the elected government.

I voted for her a couple of times, but I'm not cheesed off that she's gone! It's very simple. She didn't get enough votes and John did! I can't be angry about people's opinions and tastes and if many people want John to stay in the competition then so be it! I'll just keep voting for my faves and hpoing they stay in longer than the ones I dislike!

I think that's a splendid attitude to have

Similarly, my favourites landed in the bottom two because I presumed they'd be safe. I shan't be making that mistake again and will be voting Rachel & Vincent all the time from here on in.

I said the same last year when Gabby went. I thought she went too early but I couldn't complain because I hadn't voted for her and I had voted for someone below her on the leaderboard (John Barnes).

My mother voted for Heather and Rachel (and Jodie) and Laura in X Factor. She has promised not to vote for anyone ever again.

Well, it doesn't always work that way.

I voted for Stephanie THREE TIMES but she was in the dance off and was voted off by the judges.

I voted for Louisa many, many times, and she was out in the quarter final and mysteriously Emma went through.

Yes, I didn't vote this time thus far, which is why I didn't complain about Heather being in the dance off. Not really keen on her to be honest.

But this Saturday, though I would be working (as I always do on Saturdays now), I will vote for my favourite(s) if I get the chance to (unless they are at the absolute top of the leaderboard).

Much as John is witty, I really don't want to see him 'dance' again. It's awful, and not even remotely entertaining as Chris Parker, who at least put in the effort to train very hard and often looked worried before the dance and always gave it his best shot.

I did that in series 4. I voted for Carol week 9 and Louisa week 10 then didn't vote at all for the rest of the series.

I didn't vote for Heather but I think any shock I feel is actually more that Rachel ended up in the dance-off. On her form, Heather's place in the bottom two wasn't that surprising (she didn't seem to have huge amounts of public support). Rachel's was.

With John saved, I would have thought Jodie or Christine (who I did vote for) were more likely. Clearly they, particularly Jodie, have more public support than I expected - a pleasant shock because they are my two favourites.

All of which being said, I am in the 'please let John go next week' camp, mainly because I am not convinced he is enjoying it any more. He may be playing by the rules; I'm just not convinced his heart is in the game, whereas pretty much all the other contestants really do seem to still be loving the whole process.

What seems so harsh to me (though obviously the rules) was that Rachel got one measly point less than Tom, Cherie and Lisa (thanks Craig) and yet was counted as being in fourth place (6 from the leaderboard rather than 9). That doesn't seem right to me - though I admit I can't see a way round it. It easy to see why the public thought Rachel was safe after seeing her score 8,9,9,9.

Would that be Stepahanie Beacham? I was mad about her! She left far too early

Yes, I was so angry with Kate (not that it was her fault) that I recalled starting a moan thread about travesty.

Been there done that, it didn't help in the end. But by then I already fell in love with Alesha, so...

If anyone should be blamed for this week's outcome, it's the judges.

I genuinely believe that Rachel was on a par with Cherie & Tom (not quite as good as Lisa) and deserved equal first place which might have been enough to rescue her from the dance-off.

I think we have quite similar taste overall!

I was mortified when Kate went through instead of the delightful Stephanie - although I later grew to adore Kate (and Alesha too).

Big Louisa fan as well Still think she was robbed

I also really wanted Stephanie to stay in for a few weeks. She was fab. However, I never seen anyone so relieved and happy to be voted off!

I try not to moan about people going out as it's fair enough if they don't get enough support from either the judges and/or the public vote. As John pointed out, those are the rules of this particular game.

Cat you'll be thrilled with me tonight - I actually praised Lisa a couple of posts back

Stephanie was a hoot!

Oh, what an unfortunate night for her.

I don't know if it's because I'm pretty removed from the situation, neither Rachel nor Heather being my favourite, but I am in the "that's the way of the game" camp. I voted for my favourite couple without having seen their performance, though I had an idea of how it might go.

I do think it makes good tv. Only a couple of weeks ago, people were complaining that they knew the final already, and this week's seen a shake-up.

I may want John gone, but enough people are voting for him, and not enough for some of the others, then thems the rules. Personally I didn't vote for Heather, much as I liked her, as my votes were taken up with Austin (and one chucked Jodie's way on my mother's behalf), so I can't really complain.

I loved Stephanie as well, though there was real potential there for her and Vincent for a few nice dances

LOL! I saw but didn't want to comment in case you'd made a mistake!!!

I think you and I agree on quite a few things apart from the glaringly obvious difference on Brendan.

She was equal to them in dance terms - but the clumsy lift meant she lost points - & that was Vincent's fault.

It would be rather boring if we agreed on everything now

The lift wasn't smooth ('scuse the pun) you're quite right. But then Cherie missed all her heel leads.

Craig should have deducted one point from Rachel, no more.

I don't think that it was controversial that Heather went, given that John for some mysterious reason, survived. I felt that Jodie, Heather and Christine were probably the weakest dancers overall with the exception of John. And John is the one who deserved to leave.

If you want something slightly controversial ...

... have you heard that next series the BBC have decided that the GBP have to vote for those that they want to be eliminated and to appear in the dance off ......

....this should help those of us who each year are bored with the underdog staying at the expense of others who can dance ....

...we can but hope - I'll then hit the redial button for next year's Christopher/Julian/Fiona/Kate/John
who me?

I voted for Heather and I am cheesed off. But not at John, I wouldn't vote for him but I like him and see why other people do. He's very entertaining.
My annoyance and disappointment and right now disillusionment with the show is aimed just at the judges who seemed to bend over backwards to be sweet and encouraging to some people and seemed to do the opposite with Heather.
I felt she was often undermarked ( maybe not massively but enough to ensure she always needed extra votes to avoid a dance off) and in their comments to her they always seemed to accentuate the negative. It was therefore hard for her to come across as chirpy and confident and maybe more appealing to the voting public who hadn't picked up on what a funny feisty and talented lady she is.
