They seem to be getting the most stick and are the ones that don't seem to be relating to voters both this year and traditionally.

I'm not saying cut the 25+'s out of the competition, perhaps have three categories- males, females and groups. That would then allow Simon to get up to 8 acts aged between 14-24 which is what he really wants, although a 25+ who actually could make it in the industry could slip through the net.

That would mean one judge would have to go ... and if its true about Cheryl unsure whether to return then if she quits they might as well not replace her and go with that.

The idea of the seperate girls and boys categories was to have 6 14-24 finalists instead of 4.

They should scrap the categories, and the mentoring (bickering) altogether, and just have 12 "acts".
But then I guess it'd be too much like "Xxx Idol" and would infringe rights or something.

Ruth could slip through the net in the females category?

Its just to avoid the token pub singer that everyone treats as a laughing stock that we get each year.

Sooooo... to be clear, you want to scrap the category that currently has most acts left in the show?

That makes no sense

The category where almost everyone thinks at least 2 of them shouldn't be in the competition anymore, yes.

LOL the category that so far has noone gone, you want scrapped?

Don't relate with the viewers so much that the viewers don't even vote them out?

There is a point I suppose since there does seem to be an over in the bottom 2 every week, but I think the categories are fine as they are and none need scrapped.

I do think there should be an upper age limit though. Its not feasible imo for an act aged over say 45 to become an international or even domestic pop superstar imo.

Well, thats an opinion - and, actually its one I happen to share - but the facts are that the voting public (for whatever reasons) don't share it

By 'almost everyone' you mean almost everyone on DS - but clearly we aren't really representative of the public

Its been EVERYWHERE today and everyone has been talking about it, in real life, on the TV, in the papers, on Facebook etc and most people seem to agree that Daniel and Rachel should have been in the bottom 2 or not in the competition at all. As thats from a variety of sources I think that is quite representative.

The voting public do seem to share it as bar week 1, a 25+ has been in the bottom 2 each week.

Someone from that category has been in the bottom two every week bar the first, and all its members have been in the bottom two. It is not a popular category this year.

But i do think it should be kept

Well, unless you are one of those conspiracy theorists who think its all fixed, you would have to agree that the people who vote - who are the only people who really count - don't agree

It doesn't matter two hoots what people say on Facebook, or down the pub - its whether people bother to vote (and I speak as someone who never votes!)

In any case, the main thing from Simon's point of view is that there is a massive buzz about 'Why is Daniel still in?' etc. This is what he wants to happen, hence why Daniel is still there. Think how boring it would be if Daniel and Rachel had been voted out - nobody would be talking about it (apart from on DS, which as I say is not representative!)

Yes but it's not as if the show really wants anybody from that category to win.
I just see the category as a politically correct token gesture just to make it 'appear' that it's a level playing field for all.

I think that after Steve Brookstein Simon Cowell simply won't ever want anybody from the over 25 category to win, ever.
