Beyond all doubt is that if you don't vote to save your favourite contestants then they are at risk of being booted out.

The producers/ judges/ my Granny's cat/ whoever is not in the wrong here - they didn't give us the "shock" results we have seen with 2 hot favourites going out - the voting public did.
At the end of the day, Laura and Austin's fans didn't pick up the phone and vote to keep them safe - Daniel's, Rachel's and Eoghan's did which is why they went through.

Granted Laura was a shock - but either her fans arent as numerous as their howls of protest would lead us to believe, or they left it to others to vote for her.

X Factor isn't like Strictly Come Dancing where contestants are protected by high placings on the judges leaderboard, and those at the top are pretty safe until the later stages of the competition. On X factor the bottom 2 is entirely down to the public - the judges can't protect the better ones from the fickleness of the public vote. Once someone is in the sing off - they are at the mercy of the judges tactical voting to save their own acts or other reasons, but the judges have no say in who goes into the bottom 2 - that's down to us the viewers

Lesson to be learned from the last 2 weeks - if you want someone to stay in the show you NEED to vote for them. If you don't vote, you cannot complain if they are voted out

FWIW, I didn't rate Laura that highly from the word go - (she's too Jazzy for this competition and a LOT of people don't like Jazz music) but there are some contestants who should have gone before her.

And as I don't particularly care about the end result - I don't waste my money on voting - but if YOU care about who wins or who gets voted out - you can't be complacent and think they are safe just because they are your favourites - you need to pick up the phone and VOTE for them

As much as I agree with you, the moaners wont listen. As I have said though, they wont have voted because not all of these people would have been fans of Laura. Some people just enjoy having something to complain about.

I'll 2nd that. Its all publicity anyway. I personaly think Laura is trying to look like Amy Whinehouse who has had a lot of bad press of recent times, so maybe thats why shes not been voted for. Just a theory but it could be shes not as popular as X Factor would have us believe and Cheryl Cole, as we know, is a poor loser.

Totally agree I think it's crazy that people are blaming the judges for sending Laura home. If Laura was as popular with the public as all this post-exit hype seems to suggest then she should not have been in the bottom 2. If you didn't vote for her, don't complain when she goes out. Simple as that.

It proves that if you're young and you have a dead relative - you're The X Factor WINNER!

Forums seem to attracts a lot of moaners as you call them.
And I agree with you,
They didn't vote so she had to go.
That's the rule of this competition.

This is what I've been saying since Saturday night. People blaming Louis and the rest is absolutely pointless. Laura should never have been in the bottom two in the first place (nor Ruth) - there was a degree of complacency and it happens every year. People don't vote because they foolishly think their favourite is safe. Then they complain and call for Walsh's head when something like this happens.

The underdogs will do well because they have fans who aren't confident and WILL vote, hence why the likes of Daniel keep getting through each week. After Laura's exit, which seems to have got to a lot of people, we might see more aggressive voting this week. Hopefully Daniel's time has finally come.

It's proven that Louis Walsh is an inconsistent two faced git

He voted for Rachel last week because she "had more potential" (I dont see it) than Austin even though he sang much better in the sing off.
And this week he voted for Ruth who sang much better in the sing off even though Laura has much better potential to go further in the competition (and make a good career) than most of the artists on there.

By the way ... I'm no big fan of Laura, I want Alex to win, but I do know talent (and two faced gits) when I see it.

Spot on.

The people who make it to the final are never in the bottom two - at least I think that's the case. It certainly was with Leona. I don't remember Leon having to sing his way out of trouble either.

If Laura had any chance of winning, people would be voting for her week after week - and they're not. So she probably would never have won it anyway, even if she had stuck it out to the end.

I agree with you about Alex, but Laura? Talented? She puts an 'h' at the beginning of every word, and she has no vocal control whatsoever. She switches from chest to head voice so much, she sounds like several different people when she sings. It's irritating and painful to listen to.

I agree maybe people thought both girls were safe, neither Ruth nor Laura should have been Bottom 2 but its the publics fault for not voting I guess

I think it proves that song choice and performance order are far more important than the performance itself. Poor luck in both counts is enough to see anyone off it seems.

Well I have to confess she was my favourite but I didn't vote. I often don't until the final. I didn't expect her to be out to be honest.
